Okay, now I know why this place is always busy! First time dining at this establishment and I’m surprised I haven’t tried this place before. Food was delicious! I ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries and slaw. The sandwich was tasty and not soggy at all! A mistake most restaurants in the QC area make is not squeezing the sauerkraut, thus leaving the sandwich soggy and unappetizing so I thank you Machine Shed for getting that right. The coleslaw was fresh and creamy and the fries were tasty as well. And as good as the meal was, it wasn’t the star of the night, that title goes to the amazing bread pudding. OMG!!!! First off, it’s hard enough to find any establishment that even offers bread pudding let alone one that does it extremely well! I added cinnamon ice cream to the order and with the first bite, instant smile on my face! It was soooooooo good!! I was on a date night with my fiancé who doesn’t like bread pudding from previous experiences yet I was able to talk her into trying it and let’s just say she had more than that one bite😂 I give service 4 stars only because I was never asked if my drink needed refilled and never received any straws. Aside from that, our server was pleasant and always smiling. 3 stars for atmosphere because it was insanely loud. As if everyone were trying to talk over one another. I felt like they needed someone there with a whistle to calm the crowd. Which was surprising to me considering this restaurant has a lot of older customers. All in all, we will be back to try other items on the menu and I will have another date night…..With that bread pudding! 😂

“Dedicated to the American Farmer.” That is The Machine Shed’s creed. Today (August 1st 2025) my wife and I stopped in for lunch, and I’m glad we did. It was our first visit so we weren’t sure what to expect. I now know you can expect: friendly service, reasonable prices, and good food. When you walk in the front door it is a little confusing. There is a gift shop, and the restaurant is past the gift shop; but the hostess stand is in the gift shop. You also pay your dinning bill at the gift shop counter. The gift shop got very congested, but it was not a big deal and won’t impact my rating. We started with a cup of French Onion Soup. It was very good, they top it with some thin french fried onions which was a nice twist. It has been awhile since I’ve been in Iowa and I was craving a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. The sandwich was good but not up to Iowa standards. I’m accustomed to a breaded pork tenderloin that is pounded nice and thin and is way bigger than the bun. This was not pounded thin. It was a thick cut of meat. But, I repeat it was good. My fries were delicious. My wife had the Classic Burger and it was excellent. She said her sweet potato fries were good (I did not try them). Service is friendly, and prices are reasonable. One word of caution: If you are on a road-trip and hoping for a quick stop (as we were) be warned it won’t be quick. Everything is made from scratch, which is great, but it definitely takes longer. If you are in Davenport and looking for good food at reasonable prices you might want to stop by The Machine Shed.

We had a fantastic meal here after a 12 hour travel day. We were greeted warmly with smiles from the staff. After we ordered our meals they brought two sides for the table to share. We chose the baked apples and cottage cheese. We were all tired and starving so the quick start to the meal from our warm friendly server was very much appreciated. We were also served a beautiful basket of warm bread for the table, including a delicious apple cinnamon bread. Our group tried the chicken pot pie, the roasted stuffed Iowa chop, the Heartland combo and the country fried chicken. It was all amazing. The portions were huge, and we are all big eaters! The stuffed Iowa pork chop was the size of a roast. The chicken was juicy and tender. The Parmesan encrusted pork was the favorite at our table. The chicken pot pie was very tasty as well. We all shared the chocolate ganache cake and banana cream pie for dessert even though we were stuffed from our dinner. The cake is layers upon layers of decadence. The banana cream pie was nice and light and the perfect sweetness with the graham cracker crust. The Machine Shed has a warm home town farm atmosphere. There is lots of fun decor and plenty of photo opportunities with the family. There is also a cute little shop. We love this place and will now make it a mandatory stop every time we drive through the great state of Iowa. We will for sure recommend this place to family and friends.

We came for Father’s Day this year at approximately 330, unaware there was a buffet there was a buffet that day. We were told 15 mins and were sat about 15 mins later. Our waitress Samantha was amazing but clearly they were short staffed. We placed an appetizer and drink order first and when she came back with drinks told us they were remaking our onion rings as they didn’t look right. We then ordered fried chicken for my husband and the roast beef for me. She brought out the family sides and bread and it was obvious the bread was not fresh and it was off the buffet. When she came back with the onion rings, which were very very greasy, I asked if we could get the normal fresh baked bread. She said I’m sorry we have to use this up first. I knew this wasn’t her fault but said ok. When the food was brought out at approximately 430 it all appeared to be warmed up off the buffet. My husband’s chicken was so bad he couldn’t eat it. He tried to eat his wing but the breast was absolutely terrible. Soaked in grease and hard as a rock. I should have took a picture. My meal as well, did not appear fresh. It was quite apparent everything came off the buffet that was over at 3pm. The waitress eventually came back as she was working both sides and we expressed our concerns. She apologized and said let me get my manager. After at least 10 mins, the manager Matt came over and we told him our concerns. He never apologized and frankly argued they take pride in their food and offered to remake it. My husband said no, we’ve been here almost an hour. He said my meal was fresh and offered to take off my husbands chicken off the bill but was extremely rude and unapologetic. I told him we had been coming there for more than 20 years and have never complained. He didn’t seem to care and I asked to speak to someone else and he said he would take my information. He came back and did and then gave me his business card with a note for 2 complimentary meals on the back. I said I’d still like a call and he said ok. We then waited for more than 20 mins with the waitress coming over twice asking if he took care of us. We expressed we didn’t know as he never gave us a bill or told us exactly what he was doing. She came back extremely apologetic and said he would only take off the chicken and that she asked to do more and he refused. To this day, we have had no contact from anyone. I have witnessed Matt on other occasions be as rude to others as he was us. We live more than 50 miles away and almost always go here when we go to the quad cities. However, after this experience and no call, I don’t know if we will ever go back. We paid menu price for everything, except the chicken, for buffet food. We didn’t eat hardly anything of the meals and my husband even got sick on the way home. I give Samantha a 5 for her service, which is why I overall gave a 3. Without her, it would have...

I’ve been to the Machine Shed a lot, it’s always been a go-to for a good comfort meal for my family. Tonight was the first time I’ve ever had an experience like this. The waitress took our drink orders and came back 8-10 minutes later with those. We tried to order and were told the kitchen was out of some things, which I understand, so we changed our orders and asked for baked potato soup before the meals.

The waitress stopped by a couple of times and said it should be up soon, we asked again for our soup, she said she’d grab it. After quite a long wait she brings out our lukewarm food, fries are soggy, etc., and still no soup. Her excuse for the food taking so long was that “she had to send it back numerous times for the kitchen to fix, as they messed it up and she wanted us to get the food we ordered, which seemed like a stretch as we had all ordered normal meals off the menu with no changes or substitutions.

We reminded her again about the soup, which she went back and slopped three scoops into cups that had clearly been sitting in the pot for far too long. When she brought that out we asked about the cheese, bacon and chives that normally come on it, and she just said the kitchen has been running out of things, even though there was cheese, bacon and chives on my wife’s baked potato sitting in front of her.

Overall the worst service experience we’ve had there, which is a shame as I don’t think we’ll be going back for quite some time, and we normally love the food, atmosphere and top notch service.

I’d hate to have been the people sitting outside on the hay rack waiting for the driver that had apparently left for the day, but nobody went out and told any of them.

Seems management needs a bit of a shakeup to get this restaurant back to the QC staple that...

We went here for the mothers day brunch. I'm sorry, but you have 2 'executive' chefs? You're food doesn't warrant saying you actually have a 'chef'. For the 3 of us it was $114. For terrible food. We will NEVER be back. Had an omelete, it was decent, but way too much butter. Got a slice of prime rib and it was 75% fat, lost my appetite with that, and the horse radish sauce barely tasted like horseradish. My wife had some of the shrimp and her cocktail sauce was more like ketchup with a touch of horseradish. AND they charged us separately for our drinks. Come on... Apparently the lemon bars were good though. After we went to the store and my wife had to use the bathroom because her stomach was upset. I made it home and had pretty extreme gastrointestinal distress. Only good food here in the QC seems to be chains and bar food.

Edit: Your response leaves a lot to be desired. That's the best you can do? Just so everyone else knows, there is something wrong with the food scene here in the QC. The food, in general, is pretty bad here. I love living here, but to go to a good restaurant we have to drive to Le Claire or Iowa City, Cedar Rapids or even head for Chicago, but if it isn't a national chain you are better off not bothering and wasting your money, because it will be wasted and you will wish you hadn't. But then again, people here flock to places like this and love it. So I guess people here like bland tasteless food that gives you a stomach ache as soon after you leave. I moved here from Colorado and I'm used to being able to try a new restaurant and at least have a good shot at the food being good. Not here, can't go by the reviews. I moved to a...
