JJ’s Fish & Chicken on Salem Avenue is a hidden gem in Dayton’s food scene. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the welcoming aroma of freshly cooked food and the friendly smile of the woman who runs the place. She’s a true rockstar, juggling orders, cooking, and serving with an effortless grace that makes you feel like you’re her only customer.
The food is the real star of the show, though. The fish is always cooked to perfection, with a crispy batter that gives way to tender, flaky flesh. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, with a crispy coating that’s never greasy. And the sides, from the fluffy fries to the creamy coleslaw, are all made from scratch and taste like it.
But what really sets JJ’s apart is the attention to detail. The food is always piping hot and fresh, and the portions are generous. You can tell that the woman who runs the place takes pride in her work, and it shows in every bite.
If you’re looking for a delicious, affordable meal in a friendly atmosphere, JJ’s Fish & Chicken is the place to go. You won’t be...

I did just and the manager informed me they could remake. I said no thank you I just want a refund. She said she would have to wait for the manager to give me refund because they didn't come in until 3. I said ok considering it was it was 2:50 pm. I got to the window she was very rude. The place looked dirty I proceeded to give her the food . She said no you keep it and here's your 11 dollars! I said honey I don't want this food and I paid $12 dollars. She said wow a dollar! I yes and it's mine and I want all of my money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE YOU DO NOT WANT TO...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. I was looking for a take-out spot with good fried fish & I found it. Mind you-- it's in the hood & it's a no-frills sort of place, and the surroundings leave much to be desired, BUT I had EXCELLENT service. The food was piping hot, and pretty quick, even though there were about 4 people ahead of me. The guy at the register answered all my questions, knew the menu very well, made suggestions & took care in packing my bag. I didn't have to ask for condiments, he even wrapped my paper bag by tucking the ends INSIDE & putting my condiments BENEATH my food, so my tartar sauce didn't get warm & my napkin didn't get sweaty. I appreciated the small, yet helpful touches. Very good, inexpensive food. Worth the drive from...
