We are traveling from Southern California to Iowa with a 10 year old and a puppy-we needed a dinner break and we honestly could not have found a more PERFECT place. I called ahead to make sure they had room for us on the patio and if we could bring our dog and was met with the utmost accommodation, and an extremely welcoming attitude. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family, we were brought a water bowl for the dog and friendly conversation from the local patrons who recommended the wings and Mac and cheese. Our waitress-who was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and extremely hospitable (martini olive tattoo) recommended the Reuben and made us amazing, house original, hands down better than you can find in the big city cocktails. We were stunned by the deliciousness and variety of the food and are full of gratitude and that feeling of magic after you’ve had the perfect dining out experience. We ate: Seasoned fries with what I’m assuming was a homemade buttermilk ranch- bomb Curry potato salad-do it, order it Baked beans-yes please, more The Mac and cheese-what strange, dark magic is this? Brisket Reuben-my god, I can die happy (they even brought it with an extra side of sauce without asking)!!! They know what is up. They were hosting a Cornhole tournament and it seems there is a lot of live entertainment. Please, please, I beg you-go eat here. Support this local gem filled with a centuries...
Read moreWe decided to take the family of 4 out to eat and thought that the menu sounded good. We stepped inside and found the atmosphere inviting. We sat down and they brought us menus. 15-20 minutes later, someone finally asked us for our drink order. Another 10 minutes later they finally asked us what we wanted to eat. 1/2 of the food came out 15 minutes later and we were asked if there was anything else?. I order a "Philly" which was definitely not a Philly. Miniscule peppers and onions are covered up with a nacho cheese sauce. The bottom of the bread was soggy and the coleslaw and potato salad were bland. I would love to give a good review, however, the owner/cook wanted to try to be condescending about the rave reviews his Californified food has received. Our meal was comped, which is not what we were looking for. I wanted to give a real opinion on the food and hope that they could take the feedback to improve. I would not recommend the overpriced food and drink the next you...
Read moreUpdate We've been back several times now. We make this place a must stop on any trips we take near the Western slope. We even found a cute little Airbnb within walking distance this time. The food is always so good. I had the brisket stroganoff this time and it was amazing!!
A true diamond in the rough. Stumbled upon this place by fluke looking for a good place to eat during our weekend getaway. Ended up spending the next 5 hours there. The food was absolutely AMAZING and they have a great happy hour selection. It was a Saturday so they had live music coming up (as they do every Saturday). Ended up seeing the extremely talented Tim & Richard. Talented is an understatement, if you haven't seen them it's a must. The owner Russell and his dad Russ were such a pleasure to get to know. Very excited for the future Reckless Brewery to open. We will...
