Monroe Bakery — Restaurant in Dearborn

So, I started patronizing Monroe Bakery when my daughter turned 1years old, she is 22, now. I would order all my special occasion cakes here and stop by at twice a month if not more to get a cake for my husband who is a cake addiction. I, even had my mother and granny from downtown Detroit patronizing this bakery for their cakes, too…that’s a 45 minute drive for them. However, since about 2016, this bakery has went down in quality. I always ask if the cakes are fresh and always get, “they made them this morning or the same day only to get it home two hours away and find out that the icing is stale and the cake is hard and dry. After experiencing this twice from this bakery I was heartbroken my favorite bakery is garbage, now. I refuse to go and shop there anymore. However, my husband decided to surprise me last night with a yellow cake with white icing from Monroe Bakery. I asked him where did he get the cake from and he said Monroe bakery. I said to him why would you buy a cake from Monroe bakery when their default lie is that the cakes were made that morning or the same day only, always. I was so frustrated with my husband because I told him on several occasions never buy cakes from Monroe Bakery and he thought that maybe they changed, nope…still, garbage. So, disappointing. Here it is 2025 and Monroe Bakery is still telling the same lie about these cakes…you guys are a rip-off. Try providing quality cakes again so you don’t have rip-off and lie...

Went here last week I've been here plenty of times but never for a sandwich. I was coming from Dialysis I was starving but had a doctor's appointment down the street and would have had to wait in there for two hours before I could eat. I ordered an Italian sandwich cold cut they let you choose from a few breads the one I chose was hard as a rock the person making it can clearing tell that bread wasn't edible but she made the sandwich anyways. People who don't give a hoot about what they sell folks should never deal with food! I would have never gave out that hard bread to anybody. The cold cuts they use are really good though so I ate the meat and cheese that was on it and called it a day but I will never order another one. Thier other stuff is not all that great either but they get a lot of business but they've been there a long time. I didn't take a picture it...

I had the worst experience here ordering a birthday cake. They did not give me what I asked. When I talked to the owner or cake boss she causally told me it wasn't her issue. She just bakes the cake someone else decorates. I would need to call back on a Monday. This took place on Saturday afternoon. After being told they could not fix my cupcakes, that was $50 for 24 stripped cup cakes that were supposed be in the shape of a hat. I call the bakery back to ask can they just re frost. They were willing to do so. This process took 90mins. I couldn't believe my son's first birthday party was about to begin with us not a cake. The cupcakes were even hard. I will never buy a cake...
