We drove from an hour away to come to the Pie Safe Bakery to try it out and it did not disappoint! To begin, the atmosphere is lovely and is a place I’d love to meet a friend for coffee. However, I wouldn’t come here for the coffee, but for the amazing pastries and danishes they have. If you’ve had a danish and didn’t like it, then I bet you haven’t had a fresh, homemade one. You have to try them here to see what a real danish should taste like! They have giant crème puffs, which my kids devoured, and even their bear claws, which I’ve always considered a little boring, were delicious. We also spilt a pizza here, which was baked in a brick pizza oven. It was super simple, but so yummy. Finally, we took home two pies to take home to have for a birthday dessert, cherry and apple. The apple wasn’t as sweet as I’d like it to be, but the cherry was perfect. We’ve been happily snacking on them all week! I look forward to the next special occasion where we get to make the drive to come up to the Pie Safe Bakery. I’d be a much more regular customer if it was...
Read moreCute destination eatery. Food is okay. Plates are chipped most of the time , handle with care. Outdoor dining available. They have several sandwich choices and salad choices and of course pie. They also serve pizza cooked in a brick oven. There is a gift shop adjoining as well as a cheese factory where you can watch the process. The dining room is large and comfortable. Service is a walk up window to order and a server to deliver the meal. Pay attention, I have been shorted chips and croissant in the past and had to verify they did indeed come with the meal. An afternoon pie and coffee break here is fun. They have a piano in the rear room and I have had the pleasure of listening to some very talented customers avail themselves to it. 3 stars because I have had some food that was difficult to eat or just unappealing. However, I have had some really tasty offering at times. The menu changes. Hope this is helpful, overall I would recommend the Pie Safe and...
Read moreWe have been here many times, as we camp near here often. This is a nice place, appears to be owned/operated by a local religious group. Prices are a bit high, but quality counts. That is the problem, we were there July 5th, got a Turkey sandwich. It was mediocre at best, with a big chunk of skin in the sandwich. No flavor except for the Mayo, which made it goopy, unlike previous ones which were great. But, that wasn't the worst part, my wife decided to get a pastry, was a tray in the display, showed $4.00 for one. When she tried to check out, they said $5.00. When she said the sign says $4.00 (verified by another server) they still insisted on charging her $5.00!! That is illegal in many states, and unethical anywhere, charge what you post! So, can no longer recommend this place, and that is sad. Hope the group that runs it has better business practices with the other...
