Terrible; we have enjoyed this place in the past. Our last visit my wife and I both got sick; it lasted into the next day. The chicken wings were disgusting; they were one of our favorites in the past. They were fried to a crisp; and very very small. Their "new" menu just means you have to pay extra for everything. My chopped steak was about $16 after all the "extras"; I asked for extra mushroom IF they were the burgundy mushroom I enjoyed in the past. $2.50 extra was charged and they were NOT the mushrooms I asked for. Also the hash browns; yep..another $2.50 now; were burnt and inedible Too bad they must have lost the cook that was there and the one good server that was also tending bar. . I guess I should have learned from my 4th of July visit; as we entered we were greeted by the waitress's outside smoking; no it wasn't welcome..it was we aren't serving the salad bar. Then as we continued in; we found out they were doing a limited service as they were closing early; would it have killed them to post on face book they were closing early? We drive from Garrison when we have went here; not terribly a long drive but we could have saved a trip. So in closing; this place has went in the crapper; now it's just angry old servers; crappy cooks and over priced crappy food. We...
Read moreWe usually hit the Deer Stand on our way home from up north and have had good food and service there. We stopped there yesterday, and due to the fact it was very hot outside and we had two dogs with us, we got our order to go so we could keep the vehicles running and the air on for the dogs. The service was slow, but they were busy, and it appeared there were only two waitstaff to run the bar, and wait the tables. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted and get our orders taken, and they came out screwed up. They combined our takeout order with that of the party sitting next to us at the bar. My wife ordered a salad with chicken off the menu, and we were well down the road before it was opened, and it was very small-maybe one cup of iceberg lettuce, a couple carrot shavings, and that was it. No tomatoes, no onlons, no chicken, no NOTHING! It wasn't worth the $6.00 price they got for it-it didn't even qualify as a side salad, let alone an entre salad. We asked for plastic forks, which they never gave us, and cups of water to take out for the dogs-never got them either. 'Shame to see the service going down hill there as we have always enjoyed stopping there. Heck, my wife was wearing one of their shirts...
