I can't believe my wife and I haven't found this hidden gem before now! We enjoyed our visit very much. Five stars are very well-deserved.
Detailed review below, but the quick version is the appetizer, main courses, and dessert were all amazing. The soup and salad bar was above average. The atmosphere was perfect. My wife and I now consider Bashar's "our special place" in the area.
So now the details...
We made a reservation for 5:30 on a Friday and arrived promptly. We were greeted at the door by the owner, who showed us to our table. I believe there were only two other tables occupied at the time, but it filled to capacity soon after, so I would recommend reservations if you're not there early.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, bustling but not noisy. The decor is tasteful and well-suited to the environment. We felt comfortable and relaxed. Our stay was almost two and a half hours, and we never felt rushed.
We ordered the appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip with bread, which was excellent. Very creamy and tasty. There was plenty of bread for an appetizer, but there was a bit more dip than we needed, so we were able to take some home for later.
For the main course, I ordered the chicken marsala on polenta and my wife chose the chicken alfredo pizza. The soup and salad bar was included with my meal, and my wife added it to hers for a very reasonable upcharge.
The chicken marsala was cooked perfectly. I found the sauce creamy and rich, without being overpowering. There was the perfect amount of sauce for the other elements of the dish. This was my first time trying polenta, and I found it good, but I would have personally preferred penne pasta, which the owner assured me can be substituted if desired. This is simply personal taste, not a criticism of the dish.
My wife's chicken alfredo pizza was completely on point. The crust was to die for. The chicken was tender, and the combination of flavors worked perfectly. We are definitely going to sample additional pizza options here in the future!
The soup and salad bar was above average. The salad greens and toppings were quality ingredients. For soup, we only tried the minestrone, and enjoyed it.
We wrapped up with tiramisu for dessert, and my goodness, what a treat that was. The texture, flavor, temperature -- everything about it was perfection. It was easily the best dessert I've had at a restaurant in many years.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Bashar's more than we've enjoyed going out for dinner anywhere else for a very long time. It's a little more upscale than we go to often, but it has definitely become our new "special night out" go-to. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
Update: We went back tonight and enjoyed everything again. Nothing much to add, except that the experience was consistent. Still well worth...
Read moreFirst time trying this place from seeing it on “You gotta eat”, food was amazing! I think this might’ve topped Olive Garden for me! Love the menu options, and the clean atmosphere. We went on a Friday night, so expected they were quite busy. We had to wait a bit for a table to open up. Even with the busyness they kept things restocked, restaurant cleaned, and communication throughout the time dinning. Our server was great! I will say the restaurant was a bit cold, but it also was a pretty cold night! I’d say bring a jacket, I ended up keeping my coat on. I also believe our server forgot to ring in our desserts at the end, so that did take a bit longer than anticipated and we had to change desserts from dine in to take out, but it won’t stop us from trying again. I completely understand as being in the service industry. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try! The bread and butter was delicious and...
Read moreMe and my husband have been trying various menu items since Bashar's opened. We have always had amazing food! The chef does an amazing job of putting together such flavorful dishes. From the appetizers to the pizza's, the various pasta dishes and lunch and dinner specials we have tried just about everything on the menu. Always scrumptious! If you think amazing food of this Calibur would be out of reach, then you have not tried Bashar's. The amount of food you get for the Dinners feed us that night and plenty of yummy leftovers the next day. I also heard that they will be implementing seasonal menus! I cannot wait to see what new yummy creations will be on the menu. I cannot say enough good things about the food, the atmosphere and the price! I am very excited that Bashar's decided to bring their high-quality dining experience to...
