This restaurant was as great as in the past! The employees were friendly and greeted us as soon as we went in. That is something of importance to keep the relationship between customers and employees on a positive note. The gravy was very good. I believe it is fresh or house-made and not from a can. Scrambled eggs were fluffy. The butter on the toast is pleasantly tasty. Melted butter is a great way to butter toast. We have been to other restaurants and they butter the toast but it doesn't melt which means the toast is cold not hot or warm. All of our food was hot and delicious. Wide variety of menu items to choose from. Weekends are breakfast buffets and from experience, worth the money and worth the trip. So many items to choose from like meats, fruits, bread, waffles, or pancakes. $20 a person but so much to choose and worth the price, the wait, and the trip to try it out. Go hungry! I wish we had more like this restaurant downstate.

This was such a little gem we found! We tried it once on a weekday afternoon. I got a cherry chicken wrap and fries and my husband got the big breakfast combo with biscuits and gravy, can’t remember the name. He said his was so much food he couldn’t even finish it. My wrap was very good. My kids got little breakfast plates and they enjoyed them. When I went back, with my son, on a Sunday morning, I tried the breakfast buffet because when I went up and looked at it, I couldn’t help myself, wanted to try it all. Well, they certainly made money on me, because I only was able to eat one plate and go back for a few pieces of sausage. Lol the food in the buffet was just ok, the eggs were rubbery and the hash browns were a little odd. I would not get that when I come back. My son got the stuffed French toast with strawberries and said it was amazing! He couldn’t finish his either! Our service was great both times and we will be back for sure!

We had a brunch at Randy's restaurant while visiting family up north by the lake, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! The staff and waitress welcomed us with warm smiles and even warmer coffee. We dove into the extensive menu and were blown away by the hearty breakfast options. Every dish was packed with flavor and executed to perfection. The food arrived at the right temperature, and the portions were incredibly generous. The quality of the ingredients shone through in every bite. A truly top-notch dining experience that left us thoroughly impressed. Well done, Randy's! Keep up the fantastic work! 🍳👌

Randy’s is one of our favorite restaurants to visit when we come to our Houghton Lake cottage. We usually go there for breakfast however we have had amazing lunches and dinners there as well.

They have a phenomenal breakfast bar on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8am-1pm. It has anything you could possibly want for a big yummy wholesome breakfast. Everything is so fresh, the fruit especially. I love their omelettes, I have tried several of them and they have all been fantastic, the eggs Benedict delicious, the loaded veggie breakfast bowl is amazing, to be honest my husband and I have loved every meal we have ever had there. The restaurant is extremely clean, the staff is awesome, friendly, and attentive . We usually get the same waitress Wendy, she alone makes our dining experience enjoyable, today she even remembered what we wanted for our beverages, even though we came in later than usual. I highly recommend visiting their restaurant!! They have a great menu, a great breakfast, salad, and dinner bar, as well as friendly kind staff!

I actually wrote this review months ago I think it was the end of winter, but I wanted to edit a few things. I also really wanted to thank our waitress we had today, July 28th 2023. Pam; my husband mentioned it was my birthday and she not only wished me a happy birthday but she brought my omelet with a candle in it, it made my morning, it really did. Just another reason why they are my favorite family restaurant, they truly care about the people who come in to eat. And it’s more than the times I have mentioned here, it’s every time we go, even when they are busy. They all work very hard to make sure everything is amazing, and they do a great job. I’m no critic but I’m sincere in the...

Christmas buffet 2023, out of four slices of prime rib, only one bite was tender. The ham was tender, but only bits and pieces available, not by the slice. There were no gourmet vegetable dishes, just plain corn and green bean casserole that was missing the crispy fried onions which made it taste bland, but it looked like they threw in a few seasoned fries at the last minute that was an unexpected weird taste. The mashed potatoes were great, but the roasted red potatoes were dried out, hard and crumbled in your mouth, definitely were microwaved. They must of thought everyone was coming for the prime rib, so the hek with the veggies, lol. Only thing is they must of just got some cheap rib roasts that they knew weren't that great, but hey they used the prime rib to draw in costumers, so it didn't need to be good, because once they got you in, your in! Can't comment on the broasted chicken, or shrimp, but likely good. No pies! imagine that on Christmas and they were a little stingy on the dessert cakes, likely because they were gourmet, and also were the first things they removed from the buffet when ending, lol. You could tell they weren't homemade, possibly picked up from Walmart. I'm sure the cook was paid very well for working the holidays, but must of woke up late and slopped everything together, lol. It's kind of like they know nothing else is open, so just throw a cheap buffet together for people that have to eat out for the holidays, because hey they have no choice right! It was definitely a $27 plus tax buffet rip-off! Atmosphere/decor was cold and sterile. The only good thing was the service, but what's that without good food. Unfortunately you'd prolly get a better meal at McDonald's if they were open...

On the Northeast corner of the lake, Randy's is a local favorite.

To their credit, they picked a prime location and they have a Corner On The Market, so to speak, for a Family Restaurant on the north side of Beautiful Houghton Lake. (As opposed to Bar/Restaurant. Big difference.) Now, keep in mind they do more than breakfast. They're a full service restaurant and I'm sure you can find their hours and menu around here somewhere, but for some odd reason, I've only been to breakfast. A lot, so that's what I'll review.

The service is generally pretty dang good. The people are friendly, the service prompt. As with any place on the lake, on summer weekends, you better be early or you'll be pressing your punkin' face up to the window, looking in from the parking lot. Most other days you can pretty much walk in and get a seat. Though that's not a promise. Hey. When it comes down to it, you're on your own. Sorry.

The menu is standard fare for breakfast but that's pretty much what we all want, right? Eggs, Butter & Syrup (and the pancakes/waffles that come with them) and meat. What more is there? Okay, there's coffee, which is good and plentiful, toast, biscuits and even gravy but sadly no grits. Yes. I know. It's a Southern Thing but once you've lived there, you get used to them and you miss them when you can't get them. Just sayin'. And in the same category, my vote for the channel on the very nice TV monitor in the restaurant would be the Weather Channel or even better, an old TV show or movie. I can see the news at home and I find it is often incompatible with eating. Again. Just sayin'.

The bathrooms pass The Test, being clean and functional. A big plus, believe me.

So yeah. Randy's....
