Im not sure what happened to this place this used to be my hot spot for food, today I took my father out for dinner to a place I've always loved to go, as soon as I walk in to dining area and immediately notice it was a fly farm, easily counted 17 mabey more flies in dining area, little did i know this was the beginning of a terrible experience We took our seats and ordered our food, my dad got the special of the day shrimp Alfredo and I got a chicken wrap with salsa and chips with hush puppies for starters, I got the hush puppies and was extremely disappointed it was over cooked over breaded and like a mouthful of sand it was gross did not eat half of them, my dad got his dinner and then 3 minutes later got his salad which was suppose to be his appetizer, already frustrated from having Vietnam war with the flies my chicken wrap was off to me it was wrapped in paper when it was served chicken was extremely rubbery and dry making me wonder if it was even cooked fresh the highlight of the meal for me was the chips and salsa sad to say, OH and my lemonade was delicious lol my dads alfredo was also dry shrimp was undercooked super salty it was just gross, he got 2 peices of bread and they were bricks and literally crumbled away if you pressed on it safe to say we didn't eat our meals fully and unfortunately we will never be back shakers end of 2023 is a scream for help needs new management and...
Read moreAlways satisfied with the food here. I've only gotten take-out, but done so several times and really never disappointed. Chicken and biscuits should be a stock photo & review for perfect Midwestern comfort food... open faced turkey sandwich was just fine (not great; just fine though!) the side salad w/house dressing is unique because it includes water chestnuts (although they should drain them better!) and the house salad dressing is unique but very good. Never had breakfast here yet but heard only raves and noted plates of blueberry pancakes big as Frisbees float by as I was waiting for my order to-go. Looked and smelled terrific! Not a big restaurant and always very crowded here during peak season and weekends especially, and really no spacious waiting place. But it's worth the wait if you can (it never seems very long); staff here is always super friendly and accommodating year-round; "up north" kitschy woodsy decor is so appropo for the Houghton Lake all-season resort community. It's not just fine and dandy food, but also a fun north woods experience...
Read moreMy husband and I along with our 10 year old daughter just left this place. We did not have a chance to eat or rate the food. But we could rate our interactions and hospitality. We had a 15 to 20min wait to be seated like everyone else. The issue is when people who came after us was seated before us. Without complaint; we were seated. Another issue was the endearing name our waitress continue to call my husband "honey"; this had him upset and I kept him from asking her to stop. To add to the compound disrespect, a party of 4 to 5 people (who was seated 10 to 15 min after us) received their food before us. Now we can chop this up to waitress lazziness or we could just call it what it is! You see, my skin color is like no other customers in the restaurant or waiting outside the restaurant. I am black, my husband is white, and our daughter is biracial. We got up and just left without given a reason! We are not seeking to hear excuses. If we could give "no stars" we would. This is...
