Freedom Blend Coffee — Restaurant in Des Moines

I have a new favorite coffee shop. I've been wanting to stop here ever since they built the place a few years ago. The stars aligned today, so I went. The location is kind of strange. It's safe enough, I'm just not sure if it's in the best location for coffee afficionados. But it's still here after all this time, so what do I know? The building is beautiful and the indoor decor is lovely. It has a sort of rustic forest cabin feel to it complete with a stone fireplace. There are plenty of places for privacy or communal sipping, whichever you prefer. It was a cool morning so I had a hot chocolate, which was not to sweet and very drinkable. I inhaled mine. I ordered the grilled sausage, egg, and cheese burrito. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they use chorizo sausage. It wasn't too hot, but added just the right kick. Great coffee shop!

Espresso: the espresso was the perfect balance between bright and sweet and just a little smoky. Not bitter at all. The Ethiopia pourover was also solid. Also, prices are excellent for the quality.

Roaster: I talked to JohnPaul for a bit about his roasting and he seems very enthusiastic about improving his roast and trying new things which is critical for any roaster no matter how much experience they have. Ruts are very dangerous for roasters.

Environment: I've been sitting here studying for 3 hours and I'm still not sore. :) The seats are very comfortable and the shop is spacious

I wish they had a few unique seasonal espresso drinks but that's a pretty minor thing. Great...

Quanisha rook my order very good experience, once the duty was transferred over to another lady that's when it went down hill, I seen her on the coffee machine making my drinks, I waited 25 minutes in the drive thru on drinks. When she came to the window to hand me my drinks the drinks weee wrong I ordered one Carmel small hot latte and one mocha frape, she gave me one Carmel iced coffee and one mocha latte! I also ordered a cinnamon roll never gave me that until I spoke up! When I mentioned the drunken were wrong she offered to remake them but I was already late to work after waiting 25+ minutes for drinks.
