Pal Joey's Lounge — Restaurant in Des Moines

I am outraged! My first time going to this bar and was accused of trying to not pay for my drink after I had already paid for it. I was there for a farewell/engagement party and I got a beer, I tried paying with a card and was told it was cash only. Then I looked in my wallet and found exactly the amount I needed minus money for a tip. I showed it to the bartender and left it on the counter. A while later he comes to me and asks me to go to the ATM and pay for the drink and started making a scene, so I paid for my drink twice. My conscience is clean. I am so upset by this that I will never come again to this bar. He also charged one of my friends a dollar more than another of my friends for...

We stopped here for a drink while on the bike trail. Sad to say, I'd never heard of it before. This bar has old school charm - dim lights and a lot of wood. Gave me Cheers vibes with the layout. Bartender (maybe owner?) was really friendly and answered our questions about the bar's history. Note: they don't take credit cards but have an ATM...

If Frank Sinatra were alive and well in Des Moines, this would be his hang out. Great service. Frankie the owner is a blast and you never have a empty glass. And if Poppa Joe is there, you will have an ear full of wonderful life stories....
