American Legion Skatepark — Attraction in West Des Moines

Worth the stop if driving through Iowa.

Very plaza orientated but the creators of this park slammed tons of natro-urban features into a pristine bi-chromatic park.

Compliments to the city, sponsors, and designers.

I prefer a bowl heavy park, but this park has options for flow. Wish I could see some locals skate it, but Today it is empty.

The coping is Clean and friendly, and comes in a multi size pak so anyone can get xp for level ups.

Even comes with a flatground session area complete with a parking stall barrier. And also a port a potty next to the parking lot. So basically this park has everything but a bowl.

Nice and well made for the street-style plaza that it is, I just can't justify giving it more than an average 3 stars for its smaller size and lack of transition, apart from the quarterpipes along both of the park's ends. I generally don't praise too highly for parks that are simply obstacles scattered over a flat ground, as that restricts the variety and flow you can otherwise have while skating, but again, it's decent...
