Review of Ojeda's Restaurant:
Upon entering Ojeda's Restaurant, I immediately noticed several issues that detracted from the overall experience. Firstly, the lighting in both the entrance and the main dining hall was flickering incessantly, indicating potential electrical issues that should be promptly addressed by the management.
Moving on to the food, while it was passable, it left much to be desired in terms of quality and authenticity. For instance, the enchiladas I ordered appeared hastily prepared, with the sauce tasting like generic canned nacho sauce melted down. The lack of authentic seasoning and flavors, coupled with an abundance of artificial ingredients, diminished the overall enjoyment of the dish. While the food may suffice for a quick bite, it falls short of justifying the steep price point charged by the restaurant.
Moreover, upon receiving the bill, I was taken aback to find an automatic gratuity tip added to the total. While I have no qualms about tipping for good service, I found it off-putting that the gratuity was imposed without prior notification. Despite leaving a generous cash tip of $10 to my server, I requested to have the automatic gratuity removed, as it exceeded the recommended amount. However, my request was met with resistance from the front desk staff, who appeared visibly annoyed and insisted that the gratuity should remain.
In summary, while Ojeda's Restaurant offers passable food and decent service, the glaring issues with lighting, lackluster dishes, and questionable tipping practices leave much to be desired. I would caution against dining here, especially for those seeking an authentic...
Read moreA friend and I visited the Ojeda's on Hampton in Desoto on Saturday, 09 January 2021. We arrived to the restaurant at approximately 8:30 p.m. We were told by the hostess that the wait time would be about 15-20 minutes and were given a "buzzer" and was asked to remain in our car. We waited in the car and around 9:00 p.m., the buzzer went off and we went in. We were seated at a booth and waited on our server until about 9:25 p.m. I guess my friend and I talked so much that we did not realize how long the wait was. Anyway, once the server shows up, he said, "You have five minutes before the kitchen closes to place your order". My friend and I were like, "We were waiting on you!!!" Our food finally showed up, it was lukewarm. We ate it anyway, probably shouldn't have, but we did because it was late and we were hungry. The server never checked on us and I decided I was not going to leave a tip. I paid my bill with cash and my change was around 48 cents or something. I scooped up my change and proceeded to head out the door. Before we could make it to the front, the server said, "Where is my tip? You put the tip right here (pointing towards the table)." I was livid! I reported him to the manager and left. This was my first time going out to eat in a restaurant since the pandemic. The manager tried to make excuses for the server's behavior with that "We were bust today" line. It doesn't matter. I am not trying to say the customer is ALWAYS right, however, this was unacceptable. Never again will I visit this establishment. Lesson learned, lesson burned. I only gave it 1 star...

Let me start off by expressing that I am usually a “dine in” customer and have always been satisfied with service. I have never ordered “to go” but I realize that apparently when you order “to go” you have to be very specific to the person taking your order. I placed an order for an Enchilada Dinner that included rice and beans. When I ordered the “dinner” I expected to receive the full entre, so you could imagine my disappointment when I got back to work and realized I was given the wrong order. I went to look for my receipt to verify what the order stated and unfortunately I realized the cashier did not give me one. I called and spoke to the manager who stated that if I didn’t ask for a receipt they don’t have to automatically give me one which is something I found baffling since I have never experienced that policy. She continued to talk to me with a very unpleasant and sarcastic tone. I go to Ojeda’s because it’s fast and close to work but this was a very unpleasant experience that has left a bad taste in my mouth. To pay $8.00 for enchiladas –vs- $8.50 for enchiladas, rice, & beans… then to get an “I can care less” attitude was very disappointing. It’s not about the mistakes that were made, it’s about the lack of concern and the sorry attempt at concern resolution. With that being said; I can no longer support or patronize...
