Perfect! Especially fresh. Killin' Dunkin and Krispy... All day.
I posted this on fbook after reading some of the other reviews. . . "Almost every part of Detroit could be considered a "sketchy" part of town. Even the well kept neighborhoods have their share of tom foolery, as with any American neighborhood. I was reading all the raving reviews of Dutch Girl and the area and bulletproof glass was obviously a turn off for some previous customers. Many if not most of Detroit's treasures are behind bulletproof glass but have lasted longer in "sketchy" neighborhoods than most white people. That annoys me. Seeing a gem in a dilapidated place should give you hope! One guy said "keep your head low" while riding to the place. If you're that scared of the less approved areas in the city, I suggest simply not venturing into the city at all for any of its treasures. Its my prayer that Detroit will NEVER become just another segregated city like Chicago. I hope if you have a passion for midtown and corktown and all these up and coming places, your heart is for the city as a whole. But if you're one of these people who posts opening day pictures and only truly have the nerve to explore the "approved" tiny pockets of Detroit for fear of the rest, I think you need to get real or just get out. As much as Detroit needs to grow and recover, pretending its something its not until you have carved out larger yuppy, artsy hot spots does more harm than good. Seeing the rest of the city as something that needs to come under jurisdiction of this new movement instead of coming to terms with what brought the city to its knees in the first place is not gonna foster "diversity" and revitalization in our neighborhoods. Recognizing that even on a block of abandoned buildings, hope is present and resilience existed before people implement all of these "plans" to fix what they don't even know their parents and grand parents played a part in breaking as well... Because of fear. I understand not wanting to be shot. Who wants to be shot? But I've never SEEN a gun being pulled in my 28 years of riding from east 7 Mile to Woodward for a freaking dutch girl donut. If on your one or two visits you just so happen to get shot, maybe it was just meant to be.... For your convenience, there is one of few remaining precincts just a holler away. Tell the dispatcher you're not from here, maybe they'll get to you sooner and actually investigate your shooting . Your chance for justice will especially increase if you're white, so you're already in pretty good shape for somebody who just got shot trying to buy donuts...
Read moreThe level of customer service I received Thursday morning, April 15, 2021 was absolutely HORRENDOUS!!! The lady servicing me was full of attitude from the moment she started "helping" me. Not to mention, I was extremely patient with her because she was alone and I was trying to "help" her by speaking slowly and simply allow her time to get my order together. Nevertheless, she was very short with me and her entire demeaner was wrong. What REALLY topped it all off was that she accused me of laughing (and I'm only assuming at her demise, her situation at the time....I truly don't know) when I was having a brief exchange with another customer in the store and went completely off and proceeded to pick an argument with me. Longer story short, her customer service and professionalism or very lack thereof was a complete turnoff and it sucks because my family loves this place and frankly I don't plan on revisiting. I attempted to revisit the establishment in hopes of speaking to someone in charge. After calling four different times and not receiving an answer, when I went back this morning, I was met with the same person from yesterday who still had the same attitude all over her. So needless to say I left yesterday with my money and no donuts and today I left with no resolve but continued grave disappointment. I only hope for this establishment's sake that they revisit what true customer service really is and whatever issues they may be battling personally they learn how to leave those issues at the door and handle the public accordingly. I will always remember that day and will tell anyone about it and unfortunately I will...
Read more😢 just not the same. I grew up in HP and have eaten DGD all my life. I moved to Westland and drove all the way to get the donuts anytime of the night so I know what I’m tasting and this ain’t it. This is May 2024 and I gave a 2 star bcuz the glaze is still delicious and granted everything is small and expensive now so I didn’t mind the small size of the donut. But, come on now, the donuts cost more, are smaller AND they are nasty!!! They tasted like old Walmart donuts(except the glaze) and my husband waited for 3 hours on Mother’s Day, saw them come out fresh and they still were not good so that should say a lot. My mother n husband agreed so not just me guys. Hopefully the parents didn’t take the REAL recipe to their graves and they just need to get it right bcuz so far THIS AINT IT. I have always been able to eat those buttery yeasty donuts fresh or old n was in heaven every time so for these to be fresh as fresh can get and taste old n generic is beyond me. They have that commercial bakery taste not homemade like before PLEASE if you bring back the original, the costs will be offset by the traffic of ppl coming from other states like before. Ppl stop coming bcuz we traveled all that way for them to be closed or have no product for hours. Those of us that know please speak up so they can put it back right!! Unless, like I said, the parents took it to the grave. No one has donuts like DGD had before, trust me I looked bcuz I knew this would happen one day so if you can bring it back n keep up the good service, DGD will be even a better hidden gem than...
