King Wok Seafood Boil — Restaurant in Detroit

I've called well over 3x's at the least. I live literally 3 minutes away. We have always gotten rice in the lil white box. We order the same thing every time. I ordered shrimp egg foo young, wonton soup, and sweet and sour chicken. No rice? 🍚 I asked that extra onions be in my wonton soup, they wanted to charge me $1. Nevermind. Greed. Isn't the soup suppose to come with onions? In my picture 5 small cuts of onion 🧅, not enough to taste anything, the wonton dumpling was bland. Nothing but the taste of meat and texture from the pasta. I'm going make my own rice and add my own onion. Should've cooked my own food. Hell with this. Find another restaurant, this isn't it. I kept calling and was sent to the managers direct phone line, for RICE and ONIONS? I order from here all the time ( at least 5x's since I moved West since October of 2024) Food is good, hot and fresh. Not a sit in restaurant, but a whole in the wall. No thrills, and nothing fancy. I've been ordering before you posted a tic Tok. Service is getting worse. Food is watery and bland. Especially, my shrimp egg foo young, I can swim in it. Tic Tok, and Instagram for what? I should have followed my 1st mind and not given them a try! Went and spent over $60 on 5 dinners. 1.) Seemed to have the WORST time placing the orders with CLARITY. 2.) Was stared at with bewildered eyes when I asked about the special. 3.) Wanted 3 vegetable dishes and only got 2. 4.) When I called to complain, (since I've been a vegetarian for over 3 years). KIKI was apologetic and wanted to help. I went through 2 women and then a yelling man in the background who basically stated I was lying. 5.) I even sent pictures of the ONE dish I had an issue with. I asked for curry chicken with NO CHICKEN ADD MUSHROOMS INSTEAD. The picture I sent shows the receipt as well as a good view of the food with NO MUSHROOMS AND CHICKEN CLEARLY PRESENT. 6.) I was told to bring it back or show pictures of both dinners. I couldn't show the picture because I dropped 2 off them off to family. 7.) Decided to try this restaurant because of a social media post that I kept seeing. This was a one and done for me. Despite the long wait time, the workers were not rude and I just chalked it up to their unreadiness due to the popularity of the social media post. But after an hour wait, I finally got to try the food which did not live up to the hype that it was given. Because of the many dishes me and my family wanted to try, we placed a huge order and out of everything that we ordered, the best things were the egg foo young (7.5/10) and the sesame chicken (7/10). However the hibachi steak (1/10) wasn’t flavorful at all and the rice was mushy with a weird taste (0/10) that I just could not get with along with the rest of my family.

While the worker’s exhibited positive attitudes despite the frustrated customers, it’s not enough to compensate for subpar food. I know everyone’s taste buds are different but I wouldn’t recommend this establishment. I have had food from other Chinese restaurants that have been better but I guess I can say that I tried it.
