I try to review the buisness and not the other customers comments but man... this place should be 4.9-5 any day so I had to look and see who is writing bad reviews.
As an over the road truck driver I try to find the unique local favorite in different towns all over the country. I can only think of one or two place to rival this one, and I'm not driving back to NC or Mississippi just to grab some lunch.
It's rare to find fries that would please my Irish mother and grandmother, but these might be the first to surprise them in a good way! Absolutely fantastic. The fish sandwich was huge and just as delicious. No room left for the gigantic cookie sandwich I got for desert, but I am definitely still excited about it.
Staff were awesome too. I'm not a people person, beautiful ladies make me nervous so I tend to stay in the truck with the cat. But man did they seem glad to greet everyone who walked in. Kind, welcoming, just great people. Happy to take a minute for their customers even when they were very busy. Years of selling food with a fake smile on my face gives me the expertise to tell you that these people genuinely care about their customers.
And hey for the record, I used to work at the number one rated 5 star hotel and wedding resort in VA, as a server, runner, and expo for some of the most qualified chef's in the country. We providied authentic Forbes 5 star dinner and wedding experiences to millionares and billionaires every day. Fry cooks at McDonald's wear gloves. Real chefs wash their hands.
The food was fresh and on point, some people just don't know any better.
Wish I had stopped to take a photo of the fish sandwich before i ate it and the cookie sandwich before I let it melt in the truck!
Please take a moment to hit that fifth star because I might have driven right past this place...

I was very disappointed with my purchase at Ellis's today. I bought an Italian sandwich and it was very skimpy. Exactly two very thin slices of tomato and just skimpy all around. It cost over $10. I am withdrawing my positive review based on how skimpy the sandwich was when compared to my last sandwich. A message to the owners - do not keep getting skimpy on your food to make more profits. You charge top dollar for your food. We know a rip off here in Dixfield. You were doing good, but you apparently decided to cut back on food costs by skimping on ingredients. Wrong move. You're making a lot of money on a $10 Italian sandwich with almost no ingredients. Word will get around and you will lose business. This is a warning. Your only options for pizza and subs in Dixfield are Ellis Variety and Sams Italian Sandwich Shop. Sams is also expensive and very skimpy on ingredients. But based on today's experience, you might as well go to Sams instead of Ellis's if all you are buying is food. At least you know that Sams ingredients will be fresh, even if not plentiful. Sams and Ellis's are the only sub shops in Dixfield. If you don't want to go the extra few miles to Ralphs, or if you want to pick up beer, chips, etc. along with your food, then go to the Community Quik Stop just over the...

The mystery meat turned out to be about a pound of chipped ham dumped into an omelette. The veggie omelette involved a similar method of frying up scrambled eggs and then dumping the toppings and folding the egg over.... Which isn't actually considered the omelette being ordered. A real veggie omelette would have the veggies mixed into the beaten eggs BEFORE being grilled together... AND DOESNT INVOLVE BLACK OLIVES 🤢🤢🤢
If you're looking for the reason Walmart sells alcohol at 8am, this place is one of them.
My partner wouldn't let me come in to say something directly but please, black olives do not belong in a veggie...
