HillBilly's Grub & Pub — Restaurant in Donegal Township

If I could leave ZERO STARS I WOULD!!!!!!! Hillbilly's grub and pub........so my husband and I and friends went here for a band this weekend. Got babysitters and everything for a night out. There were about 5 people at the bar. We ask the lead singer if we can sit over there. He said sure there's no signs. We sit in the "comfy" chairs. There was no sign that it was reserved or anything that said this was VIP seating. We sit there. Minding our own business. I had my feet up on my friend's leg NOT on the furniture at all! Some guy comes over and says don't put your feet up there again or you're out of here...he wasn't nice about it at all. Then the band was doing their sound check singing a song. We had another girl come over and say you can't sit here while the band is playing its VIP again no signs for VIP. My husband then goes over to the manager and asks about it. He VERY RUDELY says it's VIP and someone will be sitting here, NO SIGNS. we tell him there was not a sign at all. He again says VERY RUDELY it's VIP someone moved the signs. The lead singer tries to help us out and said to the manger I don't mind them sitting here. The manager again VERY RUDELY says it's not up to the band where people sit. My husband says we want our money back and the manager again VERY RUDELY says ok get out of here......this place for opening weekend for bands was not very nice and they will never see us again there......I just wanted to let people know how rude the management was to us! We also didn't fight them or anything we simply were sitting here. If it was VIP seating why didn't they say something to us when we first sat there instead of waiting for it to get packed to where we didn't have a seat, when we came early for seats!!!!!!!! NOT A GOOD...

Updated: Gave it another try since the breakfast was recommended to us by friends. Expansive menu for breakfast and the server was really nice. Ordered biscuits and gravy, son had and Omelet. It was a lot of food! But the big issue was the food was cold. It came out quickly and we were only one of two tables in the restaurant at the time, so not sure why it was cold. Also ordered eggs fried medium — they were not medium, and were barely over easy. Dropped a star for the food and added one for the service. So disappointed. Decor is nice if that matters to anyone.

Original Post: First time visiting. And the last. Felt very ignored by the waitress. Only returned once to check on us. We sat with empty drink glasses for most of the meal. There were three other waitresses besides ours that kept walking back and forth past our table, as well as the manager or maybe the owner. We felt somewhat invisible — did not see much crosstalk. And none engaged us. The restaurant was not super busy, but the wait staff did seem to cater to other patrons that must have been locals or not there for the first time like us.

Our son had a General Lee Burger and onion rings. He liked it. I had the wedge salad which was a large portion. Recommend getting the dressing on the side. It was too much. Overwhelming. Also had the Mac-n-cheese appetizer, which was cold and congealed upon arrival. Only could finish a quarter of it — maybe it will improve heated up in the microwave at home. We wanted to love this place since there are so few options in the immediate area. ...

My wife & I just enjoyed dinner at HillBilly's Pub & Grub for the 1st time last night. We made reservations & highly recommend doing likewise if you're planning dinner on Fri, Sat & Sun. The seating & dining accommodations were very comfortable. Being disabled, I was able to move around, stay comfortable & easily stand up to leave. The table spacing was fantastic. You're not dining in a crowded room & it wasn't noisy. A very comfortable dining experience.

And the food was fantastic. My wife had the General Lee Burger. The thick burger was cooked to perfection while maintaining ample juiciness. She enjoyed the bun it was on & said the burger tasted great. I ordered Aunt Becks BLT. I have enjoyed many BLT's over the years, but the Aunt Beck's BLT now tops my list as the #1. It was delicious! There's no need to ask for additional bacon. It already comes with extra bacon which was plenty. The bacon tasted great & was cooked to perfection. No burnt edges or uncooked areas of fat, the key to any great BLT. The tomato was ripe & cut into thin slices. The leaf lettuce & Pepper Jack Cheese topped off my BLT. It was served on grilled Texas Toast that was buttered, seasoned & also grilled to perfection.

Our server was Brittney (Britt) and she was great at making sure we had everything we needed at the right time. We both enjoyed talking to Britt. We couldn't have asked for a better service! We will ask to be seated in her serving area the next time we make reservations. We will return to HillBilly's again soon as we saw many meals we would love to...
