Kikita Beach house was a true disappointment. I made a reservation a week or more prior, in fact I made three and when I was sure of the date I needed, which was one or two days after I made it, I called to cancel the two that I didn't need. Im from PR but I've been living in NYC for 15 years. Every time I visit I ask my family for recommendations to have a family dinner. My sister sent me a few but I chose KBH because of the view. We live in the center of the island so my ride there was 1 hour and 45 minutes. I give this 1 star because they were extremely irresponsible and careless. When we arrived we were told that our reservation had been cancelled because they had a private event. They said that they called and emailed, I never received an email. I did have missed calls one day but I was at the beach it was an unknown number and they didn't leave a message, I didn't pay any attention to it, they called me Saturday or Sunday, my reservation was the following Friday, they had DAYS to try and communicate with me. You do not cancel a persons reservation over email, you make sure you leave a voicemail, text or try to find them on the phone. They were under the impression that they had my phone wrong, when I told them my number they had the accurate one. This was just lack of care and it's so much more than just, going to another place. I lost my day, my reservation was on the earlier side of the evening so I left my house at 1:30 my family made arrangements, left work early to make this reservation, just because we wanted to enjoy the view. The gentleman that had to give us the news was very kind and apologetic but honestly and apologize doesn't cut it. They wasted all of our time and money because gas and tolls. The lack of care and respect is uncanny. I understand that they had a private event but you should do EVERYTHING, to reach everyone that has reservations made. I cannot recommend this place, I won't even try it for myself, as they didn't really care to fix it and make us want to come back. I work in Hospitality and if this ever happened at any restaurant that I manage those guest would be invited back and treated for the meal. But I can't say this from KBH, they are careless, disrespectful and...
Read moreI had spoken with Emmanuel about my visit and plans to have a birthday event at the restaurant before making the reservation. We wanted to test out the restaurant before hosting the event. We made a reservation at 5:30PM on Wednesday June 30, 2021. The restaurant sent me an email and a text message at 5:30PM on June 29th confirming our reservation. Reading and learning about the restaurant and its location and views, we were looking forward to our dinner reservation on June 30th. We arrived at the restaurant on time. There were two other cars in the parking lot. We approached the restaurant and found the doors closed. The shutters were down. We were confused. We thought we were in the wrong location. I called the restaurant several times, no answer. We yelled out "Hello, someone there??", many times, no answer. Other guests were also waiting in the cars, on their phones calling the restaurant. No response. We went up and down the stairs and finally I knocked hard on the door and someone appeared. He told us the restaurant is closed because there was no power since 2pm June 29th. They never bothered to inform their guests about the sudden restaurant closure. We understand that emergencies can happen, but at least have the decency and etiquette to inform the guests/patrons not to come and make other plans. They saw cars waiting downstairs and people going up and down the stairs but never cared to step out and talk to us. They appeared only after we shouted and banged hard on the doors. If you don't care to call and inform the patrons about the closure, at least step out and reach out to the guests who arrived and waited downstairs. I was shocked with their cold, disrespectful and indifferent attitude. They spoke to us from inside, through glass panels. Clearly the restaurant management has a lot to learn about hospitality. If you have a reservation, I strongly recommend having a "Plan B" just in case this restaurant suddenly closes and does not inform you and ruin...
Read moreServer-Deliana- We got greeted, she didn’t come back to the table after 15-20 min. After we already ordered, I learned from the house specials because I saw other customers plates. We had to call her and asked her “what are they having? We didn’t see that on the menu”. Her replied, ohh those are the house specials, I forgot to mentioned them. I decided to cancel my previous order and asked for the special “surf and turf with shrimp risotto”. My husbands and mom’s food came first (which I understood), however the server never came by the table until they were done with their food, which my mom order a piña colada with her food and never arrived. When the server finally came over and we asked where was her drink, she started trying to give poor excuses and she was the one who went to the bar to make it after all. We had to keep calling other servers to help us to get stuff. When one of those servers asked me how was the food and I told her, she was like, I’m sorry, we aren’t the ones who cooked (Ha’). My bill was $187, I do expect perfect food and service and this place doesn’t have that. Poor service overall.
When we were leaving one of the owners say hi and asked about the experience, when I told him everything that happened he was surprised. He couldn’t believe that no one brought to his attention what happened. I wish them nothing but success. They have a lot to improve though
Food Coconut shrimp- I think it was $13- they were ok Burger $14-husband said it was very good Lobster tail in butter $42- mom said it was very good, side of majado (bland, no flavor at all) Me- surf and turf with shrimp risotto $88 (the worst risotto I have ever tasted, no flavor whatsoever, straight to the garbage) The lobster was burned (toasted on top, which it was super dry) The steak was excellent...
