I stopped by Plains Trading Post Restaurant twice over a month time period. I tend to travel through Douglas on road trips through Wyoming.

I've marked this as a place to stop by for me and my family.

The first stop was for breakfast. I had a great omelet, with decent proportion and not long wait time for the food.

The second visit was with a different group for lunch. The rest of my party had a simple side or sandwich. I thought my double cheese burger was fine with plenty of fries. They offer condiments you want (opposed to charging extra or not asking).

The history and decor of the restaurant is interesting. Read their history on the menu. This establishment is made up of a few historical buildings, including the attached motel. There is smoking in this restaurant which bothered me some, even though smoking is only in the bar (entrance) I think.

Next to the restaurant is a ice cream parlor. There are only a few seats, but there are treats. Nice break, again, for a road trip.

Service was friendly and quick, but casual (no rush). I definitely will stop by more often when driving...

The decor is fascinating, and our waitress was super helpful, fast, accurate, and attentive without hovering. Loved her a lot. She was super honest about what was good and what wasn't that good on the menu, and we listened, so it dinner was excellent.

They had just down sized the salad bar, and it was mostly lettuce with dressing and the possibility of grated cheese, sunflower seeds, and croutons. Luckily they didn't charge more for it as they said they might on the menu.

The chicken fried steak and the beef liver were delicious. The steak everything it should be if you love white gravy, but you can ask for brown, and the brown is delicious too. Our waitress asked me if I liked gravy on my liver and so she brought me some on the side.

I know not everyone likes liver, but I do and I could tell that it was fresh and they'd treated it with respect, as it was fried until it has caramelized well on the outside and there were plenty of grilled onions, as it...

Seen good and bad reviews about this place. We love trying new places and pictures made it look interesting to try so we did. Some of us are smokers so it was nice finding a bar and grill you could smoke inside at. It offers a game room, bar and grill and an ice cream shop. So yeah, cute little place to hang out at, until we got there. The woman that claimed to be a waitress was the rudest woman ever. I think she honestly didn't want to serve us so the woman that she sent to take our order(although friendlier) was drinking at the same time. Did she even work there? Who knows, maybe that's acceptable here? We went ahead and ordered. 2 got the burrito, 2 got t- bone and 1 got pork chops. Burrito was pretty good, 1 enjoyed the steak the other couldn't eat his and the pork chops were dry. Definitely no reason to return here. First priority is hospitality and that...

All 5 star restaurant, service, food and on top of all the restaurant looks like a museum. And really clean. The staff were amazing. Parking lot was Klein and safe. One other cool thing they had a smoking patio sitting for those they enjoy a cigarette at their table. To add on. Some people don’t like the fact there is a smoking area and n front. I’m not a smoker but I don’t think it is any negative. Most year around customers here are the farmers, truckers and such so they are serving their customers.
