Our new local. "Pub" is a little misleading because the quality of the food is way better than what I think of as pub. The atmosphere is nicely darker and cozy like a pub, but also modern and window lit with views of the quiet Ponte Place going on. The part that is most pub-like starts with their slogan: "There are no strangers here, only friends that haven't yet met". When I first saw that I thought, cute idea but you can't predict that. However, on my first time in, that's exactly what happened. Fast friends and so many connections with people I had never met before. The wait staff act like family (the good kind) and everyone sitting at the bar was up-beat. It felt more like being at a dinner party than quietly staring at the TV. They do have TVs so that is an option if you're not in the mood. The prices are good, better than what a lot of places are becoming. The drinks are generous. It definitely qualifies as our...
Read moreFirst time trying SoDo 45, and did take-out pizza because the photos looked good online. Ordered 3 pizzas: a 12" cheese, 12" pepperoni and the margherita. As soon as I got home, we tried the pizzas; the margherita was good, and both my youngest son and I enjoyed it. However, the pepperoni had an "off" smell I could not exactly describe, maybe the high amount of grease, or the pepperoni itself? However my 8yo refused to eat it after one bite, and he LOVES pepperoni. We regularly get pizza out from multiple places in Dover and this is the only time he has outright refused to eat pizza. My husband also said something was not right with the pepperoni pizza, and I thought it had just been me. The pepperoni did not taste right. Maybe the pepperoni was going bad/rancid? Either way for expensive $18 pizza for a 12", not a super great first impression from a "higher end" pub with otherwise...
Read moreFor a Saturday night at a pub that’s barely busy, two on the front end should be sufficient. Unbelievably slow service, the bartender clearly cares more about getting out on time than service or tips and I always tip generously, but not this time. I was there for over an hour and only ordered a single cider (that wasn’t very good at all) and poutine. Poutine isn’t hard to make let alone make well. The menu claims that the gravy is wine base, no no it’s not. It tasted like gravy from a can and the potatoes (fries) were from a frozen bag. They even managed to burn them. So the overall the food was incredibly bland. No wonder I have heard of SoDo because with that type of service and lackluster food, who would be talking about this place. I...
