Delightful Culinary Journey with Breathtaking Views.
Our family - three adult children, with spouses, along with their parents - recently had the pleasure of dining at The Charlesworth, and I must say it was an experience that surpassed all my expectations. Magnificently settled along the Delaware Bay waterfront, this hidden gem offered an enchanting panorama of the shimmering water that left us in awe. From the moment we stepped through the door, every aspect of our visit created a memorable dining experience.
The restaurant's prime location, with its panoramic water view, was awe-inspiring. The golden sun casts a warm glow upon the tranquil water, and we found ourselves captivated by the beautiful the horizon. The Charlesworth is an ideal spot for both romantic evenings and lively gatherings with friends.
But it wasn't just the view that stole our hearts; the service was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we were warmly welcomed by the attentive owner Sybol, and his fabulous serving team, we felt like cherished guests. Our server Andrew had genuine warmth, attentiveness, and his knowledge of the menu added a personal touch to the dining experience. Sybol engaged with our table appropriately, and as we have previously experienced, he also created fun and excitement with sharing his ring collection, for which he is exceedingly generous.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the food. Each dish was a work of art, thoughtfully curated to combine flavors and textures that danced harmoniously on the palate. The menu showcased a blend of seasonal ingredients, highlighting the freshness and quality of the local produce. From succulent seafood delights to delectable vegetarian creations, every dish was a testament to culinary expertise.
What also impressed us about The Charlesworth was their dedication to quality extended beyond the taste of the seafood and accompaniments, showing their part in supporting the community and preserving the environment.
In conclusion, The Charlesworth is an extraordinary establishment that flawlessly combines breathtaking water views, impeccable service, and a culinary experience that tantalizes the senses. It is a haven where food enthusiasts can revel in the delight of fresh and delectable creations, all while being visually caressed by the views of the Delaware Bay. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking an unforgettable dining experience, this hidden gem will undoubtedly leave you with...
Read moreI was not able to make Google provide me a restaurant review window instead of this hotel review window.
I've spent a week deciding whether to write this review of our dinner at CH&R a week ago. Another couple invited us to join them for dinner, choose this restaurant (which they had visited before that evening) and made a 6pm reservation for Thursday evening. We live more than an hour away, but got there right before 6pm and found no where to park in their lot. I dropped my wife off close to the walkway and parked down the street.
To be fair to the establishment -- everyone else must have had an earlier in the evening reservation, seemed to be well-known by the front-of-the-house person and seemed to be getting good service and enjoying their time there.
There was a table available to us. Our friends arrived late. The two of us were provided menus upon my wife's arrival, but I had to beg someone's server to bring me a glass of water at 623pm! At this restaurant price-point, I was shocked to have a wait-staff person assigned to us who did not have a clue what serving restaurant guests is about. I have been eating in restaurants since the 1950s and our server experience that evening was clearly a bottom 1 percentile event. Actually, I would be shocked at any restaurant price-point to be ignored this badly during dinner.
The four of us waited so long for our server to arrive at the table after bringing water to our friends, we all elected not to bother ordering appetizers.
I had the pork chop entree (which was tasty), but was stuck with having French Fries as a side because they were out of baked potatoes (claiming their shipment was a bad one - so go out and buy good ones for serving to your clients)?! I do not think the other three folks at my table enjoyed their meals.
We all had coffee after dinner and the other three had desserts. I thought it was very odd that the two having pie were stuck eating it with a golden spoon instead of a fork (since our server disappeared long enough for them to finally just eat it with a spoon). Oh, and they didn't have any type of non dairy milk to go with my coffee.
The location is obviously unique and that evening was quite a pleasant one for standing on the deck for a few minutes...

A constant stream of hugs provided by many of the dinner guests, he makes you feel instantly at home and most welcome at his establishment.
