Taco heaven! I would go the ends of the earth for good tacos and these are fantastic.
I arrived right at 5p on a Saturday and walked right up to the counter. The menu is on the wall behind counter and they have paper menus as well. Nice clean common areas with a small bar and a few stools and a single round table by the door. That have Mexican soft drinks and desserts in a case.
My order was 6 hardshell tacos (all with cilantro and onions) (2) Tinga (shredded chicken) (2) Carnitas (pulled pork) (2) Carne Molida (ground beef)
I was told it would take 5 minutes and I feel it was maybe only 3 minutes before it was ready. I was offered a choice of salsa and I chose the red and given two small containers which was plenty for 6 tacos.
After transporting home about 12 minutes, my two Tinga shells had softened, which I expected knowing Tinga is generally very juicy. They were still fantastic. I used the red sauce on the carnitas and beef, and it gave a nice little kick, with some post lip numbing. It had a wonderful Smokey flavor and was clearly not from a jar!
The entire meal of 6 tacos was a little over $20, which I feel everywhere I go, $3 a taco is the going rate. They were each stuffed so I feel it was worth it.
One thing I will note, that I overheard from the counter person, if you want tamales, you need to call in the morning to order them, because they are limited and go very early.
I really enjoyed the tacos and it’s an easy parking lot to get in and out of, compared to some other smaller store fronts along the strip.
This place is surely going to give the other authentic Mexican restaurant in Thorndale a run...
Read moreI can really appreciate authentic Mexican Food and this place is very authentic. My family ordered the following: a Carne Asada Huarache, Tacos Dorados, Chilaquiles en salsa verde con pollo, Tres Tinga Tacos, Side of Rice, and 1 Horchata. Everything was exceptionally delicious with the exception of the side of Rice and the black beans that come with the chilaquiles. The rice was extremely undercooked, crunchy, and overly salted. The black beans were also extremely salty. I rated this restaurant a 3 because I happen to love mexican style rice and beans and it was subpar. If I place an order in the future I will just avoid getting rice and substitute black beans for the refried beans instead.
PS: I will be willing to go back and try the rice one more time. If it has improved I will gladly make this a 5...
Read moreSecond update: finally got the birria and it was delicious!
Update: went back and they do have birria on weekdays now but they were all out. So another trip with no birria but the taco salad and burrito were good. Flan was very good
I've only gone once but the atmosphere is adorable, the service is great, and food is ok. There prices are reasonable.
I wanted the birria but they told me they only serve that on the weekend so instead I ordered chorizo corn taco. The flavor was very good but the meat was a bit dry.
I also got a tres leches cake which was very pretty and when I cut into it there were pieces of what I think was mango. Unfortunately the tres leches cake had no flavor which was a shame considering how cute it was.
I will come back for the birria and maybe too try some of the...
