The place was nice, clean. The customer service was EXCELLENT. I received RAVE reviews about this place. The food didn’t live up to my expectations. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good. Just wasn’t what I was expecting. Its BYOB, which I love. They have a cellar on property and decided we would get our B from them. The ribs were pull off the bone tender. Brisket was tender as well. The sausage was just sausage. My husband LOVED the chicken and my mother polished off her turkey before anything. I loved the slaw. Im convinced the potato salad was made with the BBQ sauce. In a strange twist on potato salad, It was good. As a stand alone, the sauce was just ok. We had pecan pie and peach cobbler. The pecan pie was perfect. The peach cobbler was like mush. I would never get that again and it came out cold so it was pointless to top it off with ice cream. We bought some rubs and other things from the general store. It was a really good experience until we were leaving and another patron called us n*****s. We just kept walking. Unfortunately restaurants cant throw out all the trash. I think if you are in the area, its worth the trip. The customer service alone makes or breaks it for me. I think Tyler (red beard in case I’m wrong about his name) was our server and Caelub helped him bring food out. Both great guys.

They accept cards now! Don't sweat the cash only, it's gone (9/15/2021) Service: excellent, friendly welcoming staff that took time to answer questions for our pickier eaters. Food: delicious, everyone loved what the ordered, my beef/bison ribs were smokey, delicious, and tender. The slaw is a vinegar slaw I think with a bit of an asian fusion? (I think it was sesame oil I was tasting) delicious. Great potatoes, beans, bread and pickles. BYOB!: What's not to love there. Atmosphere: outside right next to a vineyard, so it's pretty and laid back. A little close to the road but that's not very noticeable once it gets crowded. Serving size: here is where they lost a star. The food was great, but beans, cabbage, and bread arent very expensive. Beef ribs do tend to be expensive, I accept that but 28 bucks for 2 ribs regardless or how well prepared is pretty slim. For 28 bucks I would expect 3 or 4 ribs minimum. Also I've had better BBQ sauce but that one is largely preference so I would never take stars away from the sauce, their sauce is delicious and well spiced just not my personal favorite. All in all it's worth the trip for a fun day or night out get some great BBQ, and drink whatever you want! Just expect the bill to food quantity ratio to be leaning more towards the bill.

Truly, a Texas experience. Go big or go home. The parking lot alone can hold thousands with ease. Since we did not have a reservation we had to wait about 20 minutes which is not bad considering sometimes the line is out the door. Between the two of us, we split a plate of ribs, which came with coleslaw, potato salad and beans. It was plenty for lunch. The menu has your typical barbecue items of brisket, sausage, steaks, and burgers. It’s definitely a meat lovers heaven. They have a wine cellar that sells five tastings for $18. They serve all Texas wines. it was interesting to learn that it is a growing, pun intended industry that does not export out of state. We surmise that they don’t have a large enough production or the state consumption is so large that they don’t need to export. Your guess is as good as mine.

Taking my dad to Saltlick BBQ for his birthday has become tradition. We enjoy the ambiance and of course the food and wine. Today 11/24/2023 our wait time was estimated at 1 hour and 15 mins, so we decided to pass time at the wine cellar next door. We were greeted by an older lady Jane, I asked if I could sample a cabernet and she responded that they only do sampling Monday-Thursday. I didn't question it, I just bought 4 bottles of what I have bought many times before, 1 of which i had opened by her to drink on premises.. My brother, who was with me at the time bought 6 beers and got a bucket with ice to place them in. After we were finished, my brother and I returned inside the wine cellar to return the bucket. As we waited Jane was tending to other customers and OFFERED THEM A SAMPLE!!!!! I was completely taken back, I was in there just an hour ago and Jane told me that there was no sampling on the weekend. My brother and I left to the restaurant because it was time to be seated. After our delicious dinner we decided to go back to the cellar to buy more wine. We didn't get an opportunity to talk to Jane because she wasn't there but fortunately Mariana was. I asked if I could please sample the cabernet and she poured me and my sister in law a sample. I loved it so much that I bought a bottle and so did my sister in law. Mariana was very pleasant and helpful. At this point I am not sure if Saltlick cellars does sampling on the weekends or not because I was told by Jane that they don't but then see her offering a sample to customers after us. I normally don't complain but this left me feeling like Jane was judging a book by its cover and its not a...

Amazing atmosphere at Salt Lick, it's really what I expect a Texan BBQ place to be like. It was vast, casual, busy and lively. We decided to be seated outside and I had wished they still have table service because it's really hard to eat outside with disposable plates and forks especially with all the fans blowing.

I think the whether it's indoors or outdoors should still be table service with the exception of those who are really taking it away. It'll be better for the environment anyway.

This is a great place for kids to roam around because they have playgrounds though be care of the mosquitos especially during sunset!

Now, the the BBQ. We thought most items were under-seasoned especially the briskets, and ribs. The turkey was just ok compared to Terry Black's. Since we were on a BBQ run, we felt that Salt Lick had better sides such as mac and cheese, coleslaw and beans although overall, we felt there wasn't as much flavor as we had hoped.

I marked 3-stars for the service because I felt many basic things were not maintained. For example, the bathrooms were dirty and the trash bin was completely full. The same with the trash bin outside, we couldn't fit another can because it was overflowing. It's fine if things are mostly self service but you got to pay better attention to these basic things such as changing out the trash bin during dinner rush. It would have created a more pleasant dining...
