Esther's Authentic Mexican Cuisine I COOK YOU ENJOY — Restaurant in Drummond Township

Visited in late October 2022, a few days before they closed for the winter. From the complementary chips and salsa, through the main courses, and ending with the dessert, one of the finest and funnest meals I've ever had up north. The fresh salsa was so good that I bought a few tubs to bring home to share with family & friends---they loved it too---next visit I'm going to see if I can buy a gallon of it!

I was fortunate to have met and had a wonderful conversation with Esther several years ago at the Meijer grand opening in Sault Ste Marie, I assisted her there with her very large purchase of fresh produce, etc. for use at her restaurant. Because of this chance meeting, I know she uses only the freshest and finest ingredients and promised her then that I would visit her restaurant some day (It's a 285 mile drive from my home in W. Michigan). So when I visited in October we renewed our acquaintance and had another wonderful conversation!

Although the gift shop was already closed for the season, Esther reopened it just for me; I proceeded to do some early Christmas shopping while there.

It's well worth the trip to Drummond even if Esther's Authentic Mexican Cuisine is your only planned stop, Esther's is now my favorite Mexican Restaurant in the entire UP...

Excellent food. Horrible. Horrible service. We were first one in after restaurant opened. Last to get served. Waitress took the four men in corner first. Then went to other tables. The other waitress even brought us stuff. Wish she was ours. Our waitress brought drinks. Not all drinks forgot. Have to ask twice. Ignored us. Waited along time for food but expected they were busy. The other waitress loaded our food on tray and it sit until waitress came up and brought to us. She stopped at top of table and didn't know who ordered what. Had us pass all the plates down the table.every single plate. Then she never came back until bill. She ran my card. 190 by the way. And said what kind of tip you want to leave me. Really. I told her 15 percent she said what?. My son left another 20 on table. So she made 40 dollar tip. Mind you I tip good always but she waS horrible. I’m having mixed feelings on how many stars to give because the food was 5 star but the service was definitely not. It took awhile for the food to come (a little less than an hour from the time we sat down to the time we were served) but they were busy, so it’s understandable. Every entree was delicious and authentic, but our waitress was not friendly. I know that’s just not some peoples personality, but she seemed irritated when I asked for dessert because it would take her extra time to make it. When we were paying at the end she did seem to be in a better mood so maybe we just caught her on a bad day and the other waitress working seemed quite nice.
