Corey’s NYC Bagel Deli — Restaurant in Dundee Township

02/21/2025: We went back today and met Corey and his incredible wife. All I'm going to say is, GO AS SOON AS YOU CAN to Corey's NYC Bagel Deli. Today we tried the hot pastrami with swiss and spicy mustard on wheat and we also tried one of their signature items (which is the Nova Lox) with chive cream cheese on a salt bagel. Absolutely fantastic, super great food, super amazing people! 10/10!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

For a place that has only been open for a week in Algonquin, I am incredibly impressed. As with any new business in the area (remember, just new to the area - they have other stores including the flagship store downtown), there are going to be growing pains with things like staff training, order accuracy, etc. The one thing they had for sure was great counter customer service and behind the counter efficiency. Very impressed with that. The food, once the issues were resolved, was actually really good (especially the rugelach and the potato salad - super good)! What really blew me away more than anything else, though, was when I called to go over a few items that weren't perfect was the owner himself, Corey. He answered the phone when I called, we chatted for about 10 minutes, he listened, took full ownership of the minor mistakes, and legit was a 10/10 in terms of customer service and genuine care for the situation. Really, really impressed with this as you don't find many places that do this anymore. In my line of work, we live and die by the type of service and care we provide to our customers - Corey's business model is very similar.

At the end of the day, keep in mind two big things here:

1. These are true, traditional, NY style kettle bagels. These are made fresh each day. They are SUPPOSED TO BE hard on the outside and soft in the center. If this isn't your jam, that's totally ok - get some other type of bread they offer for sandwiches. If you are used to the 'Einstein', 'Panera', or 'Dunkin' style soft bagels, this is not that. These are supposed to be different.

2. If you order any type of cream cheese, it is made fresh. I personally ordered the chive cream cheese for my breakfast sandwich and was very surprised with the large chunks of FRESH CHIVES in the cream cheese (lol). It was HELLA strong O_O. Really good, but yeah - STRONG hahaha :-). Make sure you know what you're ordering.

All that said, the folks in the store are a new staff (minus the owner), so be patient and be kind - they're learning too and, in my opinion, doing a great job!

P.S. The rugelach coffee cake was STUPID GOOD (lol). I can't recommend...

So finally, I’m at that point of our relationship that I will take bagels home. 😂 I don’t often eat bagels because you know the carbs….carbs be dammed! Im in a full on bagel relationship now…. You see it all started when I stopped in to get a sandwich. Fox River Spa is in the algonquin chamber and so is Corey's. We attended their ribbon cutting and our staff brings in and raves about Corey's bagels.

I noticed first thing the friendly people and helpful for someone who doesn't know the menu.

I feel like they actually genuinely enjoy being there, which is super rare nowadays when you walk into, anywhere..

Let’s talk about the sandwich. It’s unforgettable😍

I had to go back again in the same week to get another one. It is so good that it makes tiny angels 👼 🥲weep with joy! It’s piled high with all the good stuff and the pickleeeeee. Wow 🤩

At this point if you’re gonna spend your money, spend it on something worthwhile Because buying anything at Panera feels degrading at this point for what you get.

I rather support our small business where people are happy to be there and super friendly. It’s awesome.!

They have a drive-through so just FYI, you wanna order on their app 30 min ahead it wont let you.

I wanna shout this from the rooftop 🗣️they sell intelligentsia coffee! In my book its one if the best Local coffee roasters also they make a special blend just for Coreys And it’s some of the finest coffee I’ve ever tasted. I grind it at home but they have cups to go as well

So I ended up getting the cream cheese oh my my my! Its soooo good! You can eat it right off a spoon, and its fresh not some tub from the store.

And they have bagel chips I’m pretty sure that I’m going to date them too!! The everything IS everything!

The last thing I saw before thine eyes before I left was ruggelach…. patiently waiting saying pspspsps, you want to enjoy me too dont youuuu…. So i Hauled away the ruggelech as well…hinestly, you can taste the magic the yiddish fairies that live in the hollow baked into this.

So if you made it this far reading you would have already made it to coreys in the same time….get your own tiny angels to weep with joy for you! get Coreys....

This was an AMAZING experience! There's nothing like this 🥯 Bagel 🥯 place anywhere! I recently acquired an apartment building nearby and wanted to bring coffee and bagels for the laborers. Well, I had no idea I can find this type of (my favorite) food in that area, but I did... OMG! My laborers absolutely LLLOVED the food I brought from there! Some of them said, thank you, a few of the others said gracias, and the others said something else in a different language, but they seemed VERY satisfied by giving me a THUMBS UP! Anyway, I loved their Bagels and other sandwich specialties, and, man oh man, if you want to taste REAL Quality, that's definitely theeee place! In fact, now that I spoiled my workers, which is okay for me, we now have Corey's NYC Bagel Deli catered to the guys every day! They see how I appreciate all their hard work, and it also boosts moral on the job site! Do I recommend Corey's to others, the answer is, (a) ABSOLUTELY and (b) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Once you try the High Quality food they offer, you'll never go back to any of those other Bagel or Sandwich shops again! They also offer beautiful PARTY TRAYS with a multitude of offerings on every platter; it's something you just never see unless the owner of the place is as passionate as this guy is, and he makes it a point to say hello to everyone that walks through the front door... Please let me know if you open up more locations, because I buy Foreclosure properties, and I'm driving all over Cook, Lake, Kendall, Kane, Will, DeKalb, Winnebago, and DuPage counties on a daily basis.
