Timmerman’s is the kind of place that regulars have been coming for the last 50+ years. It’s also the kind of place that younger generation like mine are rediscovering. Located on a scenic bluff just past Dubuque, Timmerman’s serves classic supper-club fare with quality unmatched by anyone else in the area. If you’re looking for a creative and modern menu, check out other place in Dubuque. The menu here is time honored and proven. All our food was delicious and came out in great timing. There was a slight issue. My prime rib came out severely overcooked. But hey, it happens. No place is perfect. Our server was kind and replaced it with another within minutes. The rest of our dinner went on swimmingly. Speaking of the service, it is obvious that it is a priority here. Our party of 9 felt like family and very well taken care of. It was a busy Saturday evening with people coming in and out nonstop. Never once did we feel like we were forgotten about. Our server handled our party with poise, even though there were several colorful personalities:) There’s no enforced dress code, but dudes, please wear a collared shirt. I would highly recommend Timmerman’s to anyone spending time in the Dubuque/Galena area.

We have a group of 12 that travel. This is our 3rd and last year to travel to Galena area. A coworker recommended Timmerman's. The view is beautiful, and structure of the building is unique. When you are seated the menus are presented up, like a book, with a small slice of cornbread on each plate. My husband and I had a 4 stuffed mushroom appetizer. They were very big and so delicious! Then the salad with a raspberry vinegarette dressing. I should have gotten it on the side. I got the garlic roasted scallops with a wild rice basil pesto sauce on it. The scallops were cooked perfectly but flavor was faint, but if you have a fork filled with the rice in the same mouthful you can taste everything. I got a side of asparagus, I would have liked it cooked a tad longer. My husband's ribeye was perfect and delicious with garlic mashed potatoes. They have a full bar and an extensive wine list. This was a definite highlight for our trip!

Unfortunately after years bringing friends and family here we will not return or suggest to others after our last visit July 2023. My daughter was food poisoned by bad crab legs. I called and spoke to a manager the next day, she not only dismissed my concern for others and the seriousness of proper food handling but said she would look into it and call me back. NO RETURN CALL. Also let her know our table and the one next to us had to send our steaks back to be cooked more were raw inside. $500 meal including $130 for two lbs of crab which we threw away the next day was bad enough, finding out we we were not valued customers to even get a return call to follow up is the end of Timmermans for us.

Timmermans NEVER disappoints, as a general rule. But for Thanksgiving, that wasn't another story. We had reservations for 3 at 3pm. Got our drinks. Seems like a LOT OF PRETTY EXPENSIVE ICE we got. They totally over do your ice in any beverage...be it pop or a mixed drink. Then went up to the buffet for the first time. A lot of selections were scrapping the bottom of the barrel or empty completely. Extremely disappointing. I took some grapes the first time up at the buffet. Got back 2 our table. About 1/3 of them had MOLD on them. What the serious heck? The watermelon was extremely mushy. The Honeydew was yummy and the pineapple was that table's crowning glory. It was so tender, but not mushy, and just the sweetest pineapple I've ever had...and I peel a pineapple at home 2x a month, never fail. It's probably my very favorite flavor. I'd really wished that they'd of had an omlette station that day, but nope. The roast was good and the ham was wonderful. The salad table was missing a few things that they were out of. And the spinach had its fair share of slimy pieces. Plus, when we first went up, that table was a huge disaster and mess. Full salad plates left on the corners from someone that decided against it at the last minute. If U didn't see it, it was very easy 2 bump and have fall all over on you. And every one knows what a absolutely disaster and mess salad dressing is on any kind of fabric. The dessert bar is always unparalleled and unmatched. There's something 4 everyone...

The table was ready when we arrived and we had two hostesses serving our 10 person table. The appetizers were delicious (mozzarella wedges, stuffed mushrooms and cheese with bread).

Initial drinks were good. However one waitress left our strainers because there was so much left in them and the other half of the table had theirs taken. One waitress dumped a drink all over the table too and then still charged full price.

The entrees were not good. All of our steaks were not cooked well, the ribeye was so fatty I couldn’t eat it. The French onion soup was weird to say the least, it was extremely sweet and had a very weird taste. Didn’t eat it. Most of our food wasn’t fresh and had a layer on top since it had been sitting. Some of the food wasn’t hot.

We couldn’t get cocktails because no one offered to get them. When I finally got one, he was made wrong but couldn’t have it corrected because no one came back to check on us. We all ran out of water and no one brought refills. Half of our table waited for our checks while the other half had already paid…

Overall the food wasn’t good for the price. Service was frustrating to...
