Carmella's — Restaurant in Dunmore

I’ll elaborate on my one star rating after I preface this review by stating that 99% of our experience was top notch. My dad, myself and my 3 kids came here for dinner Saturday 8/17/24. I wish I could remember the waitress’s name because she was top notch. Great service, super friendly and on top of everything. The bartender was also super friendly and attentive as well as another waiter. And almost all of our food was very delicious. However, my dad ordered veal saltimbocca. It was a very sloppy put together on the plate and the cut of veal was extremely fatty. Needless to say, my dad nicely told the waitress that it was not good, which she kindly agreed and asked to get him another dish. After she went back to the kitchen, the chef stormed out to our table to confront my dad and tell him to his face he was wrong that the dish was not bad and shoved a raw plate of veal in his face and kept saying “no no no you’re wrong. No fat”. I am still seething after this. It is absolutely ridiculous how unprofessional this was. I’d be embarrassed if this was a member of my staff. Food is hit or miss sometimes it's outstanding sometimes it's out right bad, Dining room is outdated and needs a remodel, old style banquet chairs are stained and dated. Just returned for the Easter buffet hoping it was the amazing brunch they did last year but no it was the same tired offerings they have every holiday, dry turkey, rubbery over cooked ham, cold pasta. Except this year you didn't even get dessert just a plate of left over cookies from the bakery they own. We felt extremely rushed by the staff, they took plates away from us that still had food on them, made it very obvious they wanted us to leave. For 28.50 per person we expected better, I'll go back if they bring back the brunch but otherwise I'm not interested. And seriously buy new chairs they are old and uncomfortable and very worn and Staind.

Came back two years later, same issues as above but the food is substantially worse, under cooked potatoes, dried out fish and chicken, broken sauces, wilted lettuce in the salad. Same dingy dining room. This will be the last time...

Carmella's has been an awful experience that luckily never happened. We called to move our reservation from 7 pm to 8.30 pm, asking repeatedly if it was ok for us to go at 8.30pm or if by any chance that was too late for them. They confirmed clearly that would not have been a problem for them. They called us at 8.25pm saying: " I am sorry we can't wait any longer (longer respect to a reservation that was at 8.30pm??), people want to leave, we cannot accommodate you" and then they literally hung up on us without further explanation. We arrived at 8.30pm in front of the restaurant and it was completely closed suggesting that they probably left a while earlier. We will never go back there and I strongly suggest avoiding going there. They should be ashamed to refer to themselves as an Italian restaurant.
