Marie's Diner — Restaurant in Duryea

Not sure who the young girl was working at checkout, but she was unfriendly, rude, dismissive, and made some passive aggressive remarks towards the staff and myself when I asked if the tip made it onto the check since it was not on the screen after my card was approved. I travel to that area for work, and decided to try them out and help support a small town local business, and had she not been so rude, I would have come back and recommended it to my colleagues. However, her unwelcoming attitude was enough to deter me from ever returning or referring them to anyone.

The food was mediocre, but I would have given them another try and ordered something else, because it may have just been the meal that I ordered wasn’t one of the better items on the menu because my server was amazing. There was a reason I wanted to make sure her tip was received.

Unfortunately, I won’t give them another try because of my experience with this girl, and the way she treated the staff. Treat others the way you would want to be treated, because you never know who just walked in...

We found this place by accident a couple weeks back when heading back to Clarks Summit from AVP detouring local roads cause of flooding. Glad it rained hard that day cause we came across this gem after a 6am flight from Florida. We’ve gone almost every weekend since. The food is tasty, the coffee is really good and the pricing is what you expect when you hear “diner”, but the service exceeds what you pay for. Nothing crazy, you get refills without waiting, food comes out hot and it’s always been consistent.

Absolutely love this place. Such a good ambiance and vibe within the restaurant. From the small details to make it beautiful inside to the food! I got a pumpkin waffle with cinnamon butter, delicious. Along with eggs hash browns with the Italian toast (amazing). My server Angie was so attentive with our food and made sure my coffee was always full and didn’t miss any details that are added with the food. Such a good family style diner with amazing breakfast foods, lunches, and specials.
