This review is specific to their catering. We had originally called and asked about a reservation for a group(18 ppl). We were told we had to call their caterer, even though we specified we wanted to dine in. We were given the number and left multiple voicemails with no return call. Red flag, but I went on their site and found out I was able to order online. I put in an online order more than 1 week before I wanted my food. I did receive a confirmation email about the order. The day of my pickup, I called to confirm my order since I hadn't heard anything and still hadn't heard from the caterer. They confirmed they had the order and that it would be ready at the time specified. When the time came I sent my husband to pick up the meal and he was told they were sold out of the meat I had ordered the most of due to diet requests from multiple in our party. Turns out, they do not put food aside for pre orders so if you order and they sell out before your pick up time you are just out of luck. He said they were not at all understanding of the situation and offered no compensation or even an apology, just told him he needed to pick something else. The food wasn't bad but I will definitely never be back after this experience. Definitely don't recommend ordering something ahead of time if you are expecting to receive the food...
Read moreWent there for my first time last night. Had an awesome experience. Jonathon was our server. He was very knowledgeable, attentive and fun. Had the bourbon bramble cocktail to start, it was delicious and made by a bartender who knew how to craft a top class drink. The house margarita are home made and also delicious. No premix used here. Highly recommend both. Not a beer drinker, but they offer and impressive list o draft beers. The wine list looked well rounded as well. The Redneck fries were the bomb. Fresh French fries covered in a Wisconsin cheddar sauce, pieces of smoked brisket, their signature BBQ sauce and thin slices of fresh jalapenos. The brisket was to die for. Flavorful, melt in your mouth fork tender. Mac and cheese was delicious and so were the baked beans (and I don't even really like baked beans, tried on another reviewer's recommendation). Couldn't even finish my dinner, took 3/4 of it home after sharing the appetizer with my cousin. All in all, great ambience, great staff that are fun to be with, prices are very reasonable, and the food is amazing. Can't wait to go back. Oh, and it is nice to know they use local ingredients. Getting there meat from Linz in Crown Point and their pork from DeMotte, IN. So get yourself in there and enjoy yourself some fine BBQ and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Doc’s Smokehouse Dyer and I can confidently say that it was an absolutely amazing experience. I opted for the 3 meat plate, which included ribs, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and beef brisket, along with sides of mac and cheese and dirty rice. Let me tell you, everything was fantastic. The ribs were perfectly tender, the sausage had a nice kick of flavor, but the real star of the show was the beef brisket. It was hands down the best damn brisket I’ve ever had.
The flavor was incredible, and the meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. As for the sides, the mac and cheese was creamy and rich, and the dirty rice had a wonderful mix of spices that livened up the entire meal.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly and efficient. It was obvious that the staff took pride in their food and were passionate about barbecue. I will absolutely be returning to Doc’s Smokehouse Dyer in the future and cannot recommend it enough to anyone in the area looking for some...
