So we thought we’d give this new Chinese restaurant a try. Here’s some highlights with a couple of lowlights for improvement.
For dining in, The atmosphere was very middle of the road. Certainly not upscale and slightly better than the typical interior of the standard carryout restaurant, albeit with a few more booths for patrons. It seemed relatively clean, which you would expect after being open less than a week. I would rate the dining room atmosphere a 3 out of 5.
Service was generally ok but not exceptional. This can likely be attributed to being a new server and getting familiar with the cadence of checking in and even trying to anticipate your guests needs. This will likely come in time. Rating on service: 4 out of 5.
Of course the reason we patronize a restaurant is for the food. In this case the quality and taste of the food served to us was very good. We had the beef and broccoli dinner special. Tasty. Included white or fried rice, an eggroll and a soft drink. The chicken fried rice was decent although it was served cool and not hot enough. The eggroll was tasty although smaller in size compared to most of our local Chinese restaurants. We also had the Mongolian chicken which also was tasty as it was served with a brown sauce. Lots of onions. Not as much chicken as one would expect, but just the right amount of spice. Quite good but again not served particularly hot in temperature. I would rate this dish 4.5 out of 5 (increase the temperature and add a bit more chicken and this becomes a 5 out of 5.
Now for some suggested improvements: since they are using carryout packets of sweet & sour sauce and hot mustard, then put these packets in a container on every table so guests don’t have to continually ask for them. Also, have a napkin dispenser on the table too. Or at least leave a few extra napkins when you bring the food out to the table.
Kitchen noise: while trying to enjoy dinner in the dining room all we could hear was loud talking among the employees/cooks in the kitchen. Loud and what seemed like yelling persisted throughout the dining room. And while we are sure this yelling was not an argument, it nonetheless seemed that way to the casual diner.
Will we go back? Yes. Most likely. We hope they have more descriptive menus for the dining room coming out instead of the carryout menus. We also would love to see homemade sweet and sour sauce and homemade mustard, but even if they continue with the packets, having them on each table would be an improvement.
All and all a solid 4 out of 5 stars with the hope of continued improvement as the days and weeks go on. We want to see this local business succeed and...
Read moreI decided to give this new Chinese restaurant a try, and I’m really glad I did! I ordered the Sesame Chicken for take-out, and it was excellent. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and covered in a flavorful sweet sesame sauce that wasn’t too heavy. The fried rice was tasty and well-seasoned, and they even added fresh broccoli on the side for a nice touch.
The portion size was generous, the food was hot and freshly made, and the packaging was clean and neat. You can tell they really care about the quality. Definitely one of the better Chinese take-out spots around — I’ll be coming back soon to try...
Read moreHonestly always hyped up to try a new restaurant especially Chinese — which we in NWI don’t have enough quality Chinese takeout places.
We ordered 2 smoothies — both said fresh fruit but were definitely not, overly sweet and tastes artificial.
Ordered dumplings — they were small and mediocre.
Crab Rangoon — flavorful filling but not stuffed enough
Mongolian beef was extremely chewy, did have a good kick not enough beef either
Orange chicken — probably best dish.
Overall would spend some time with kitchen staff improving quality.
Hopefully it improves. Local businesses are important for...
