Dave's On The Square — Restaurant in Dyersburg

I am continually impressed with the non-franchised, small town diners. This location is no exception.

I met my family for lunch this afternoon at this diner. One ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. One ordered a grilled cheese and bacon, bacon extra crisp with tots. My bride also ordered the grilled cheese with bacon extra crispy with fries. I ordered a cold tuna on wheat--not toasted--with onion rings (ORs). We got two waters, one with a "tree" of lemons--the way I like it, a Dr. Pepper, and Sweet Tea.

When our food arrived is when the surprises began. Everyone enjoyed their food and sampling from each others' plates. The grilled cheese with bacon sandwiches had the hot cheese strings when pulled apart from the other half. The mushroom burger smelled delicious and I was assured the taste was as tantalizing as the smell.

I ate my "cold" Tuna sandwich with tomato and enjoyed cool refreshment in each bite. The water was delicious and the lemons added the correct amount of flavor to keep the refreshment in my mouth.

The ORs I ordered were not what I expected to tickle my taste buds. These are some of the best ORs I have enjoyed in a long time. Franchises often thaw frozen ORs in the cooking grease for their customers. Usually the ORs at a franchise are bured or taste freezer burned. This taste was much the opposite---to my taste buds' delight. These were hand cut onions, hand-breaded, cooked carefully to ensure the rich flavor was present in each bite. I was more than satisfied. I enjoyed each munchy, crisp bite.

The waitresses are friendly, polite, and courteous. We were not interrupting their day. Our drinks never ran dry. The service personnel were there to serve all the patrons in the diner. Their service made me realize people do still care for their patrons.

It was a fantastic experience. If ever I am able, I would like to try their breakfast menu selections. Thanks, Dave's On The Square, for such a wonderful diner experience...

Awesome breakfast!! My husband and I stopped in the other morning to try this place for the first time. This is by far the best and most filling breakfast I've had eating out ever! Great prices and amazing staff, our waitress Tammy, was wonderful. Super clean building also! If I had to try and think of something I would change, it would be the lighting.. Florescent lights line the room, so it to me could use some coziness. Like I said if I had to try and think of something. If you're out for breakfast in Dyersburg, you will not find a better, more reasonable, friendlier, or cleaner...

Can't complain actually. Food is great. Service will prolly be amazing for a bit after reopen then it will die off. Hanna has lied to the bosses and they fired me. Yes I had a manic phase. I still did my best. Had anyone came to see what was really going on... 1 server couldn't quit texting with her husband and 1 was angry and frustrated. Drinks weren't getting filled, tickets were getting missed. She has something to prove now so when they open yall get on up there before she gets...
