Huddle House — Restaurant in Eagle Pass

The Huddle House was very neat and clean. The (1) waitress that was there seemed inexperienced yet tried to do a good job. The place was pretty empty. It was our party of (4), and a party of (3), and a couple at a booth. We were very patient with her. We didn't have to wait too long for her to come to our table. We placed our orders, mine was an open-faced biscuit covered with gravy, sausage, eggs, & more. My wife ordered the breakfast platter with biscuits and gravy. My sone had a kids burger and my daughter ordered French toast. This was around 8:00pm. We waited about 10-15 minutes then she came to us and said, they only have one biscuit. I said give my wife the biscuit and I'll take a cheeseburger. Everybody got their food at about the same time. My daughter said her French toast was good, my wife liked the waffle, bacon, and eggs, but not so much the hash browns , which she prefers extra crispy. I ate them for her and they were okay. My burger was very good. Came with fresh lettuce and tomato, French fries on the side. The patty was about 75-80% the size of the bun. It could have been made big enough to fit the bun, but flavor was there for sure. We each had old fashioned milkshakes which we all agreed were great and at $2.99/each, not too expensive either. I signed up for their huddle club promotion and received a brownie desert with ice cream, whipped topping and a cherry. My daughter and I really enjoyed it. The waitress admitted she had never made one but she did a good first job. My thoughts on this establishment are, the staff need a little more guidance and/or training. They were very nice but maybe not the most well trained. And no manager was onsite at the time we visited leaving them (1 waitress & 1 cook) to kind of fend for themselves. This place is a complete disappointment. Within a span of 3 years, I've walked out of this place 4 times. Every single time, I didn't even get a chance to order. I waited 30 minutes in each time before I left. Today, I was at least able to order an ugly, tarp, lemonade before walking out. Sad to say, but this place has not improved at all. Waiters all walking around looking at the floor, "management" pathetic as always. The restaurant was not even full and they were just standing around, giggling and socializing amongst themselves. I never write reviews about any restaurant, unless they are utter garbage and potentially help others avoid this hassle. I'm not one to cause a scene, so I didn't want to bother the "manager" from her happy, private, conversation she was having w someone. She seemed so oblivious to her surroundings. I saw one customer walk around and get a menu as she had not been offered one. Another lucky guest that was able to obtain an order got up and was taking condiments from another table as I assume she did not any in hers. I try to give places like this that disappoint more than one chance, this being a forth and this place continues to be a disaster. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me four times, still shame on me, lol. I left $5 on my way out as I had technically been served w a drink. Instead of hurting anyone's feelings, I just walked out quietly as I had 3 times before. I understand that the world has a shortage of workers, but that still won't change the full price that I'm expected to pay....

What is this place like? Well it's not quite IHOP nor Denny's but somewhere in between.

Breakfast for lunch or dinner, why not? You can have breakfast anytime of day at this location.

It's relatively new so the outside and inside is clean.

The food is typical diner food. Lots of frozen and preservatives, nothing really tastes as good as you'd wish nor looks as nice as on their menu images. However, it's good enough.

Service is okay. They don't introduce themselves nor are very attentive, but are courteous.

Overall, it's an okay place if you'd rather not cook and can't cook.

2022 Update --- The most recent visit the food came out cold appears they have a timing issue. When we let the waitress know they just reheated and so the sunny side eggs ended like rubber. They did redo the order, however items were brought as they were done instead of on one plate. So again issue with coordinating timing.
