Update: Went here twice with my parents as part of our long beach vacation. Our last and final visit was on Tuesday June 11th 2024. There was actually a 30 minute wait in which we had to wait for table. the restaurant was very crowded. Luckily after 15/20 minutes we were finally able to sit. we actually had the same server as we did last time. my mom recognized her lol. This time, we all ordered waters, which were refilled constantly. For meals, I decided on trying the sushi, since i looked at the menu last time, but couldn't decide on anything. I ordered the salmon and avocado roll for appetezer, and the beyond burger as my meal. The server was nice and asked me if i wanted cheese, and i decided to not have the cheese on there. appreciated that! My mom had the chicken alfredo with a salad, and my dad had a seafood fri diablo with salad. The salads, and the sushi all came out together. Sushi was very good, and enjoyable, highly recommend! Loved the garlic and the soy sauce too. Entrees were also very good. We took boxes home, paid via credit card and left a cash tip. highly recommend trying this restaurant! original:Actually went here twice with my parents as part of our Long Beach vacation. Will start with our visit on Saturday June 8th 2024. Saturday June 8th 2024, we came here for the first time. no wait, was seated right away by a host, who sat us in a booth by the bar. They had plenty of booths and tables. Before you know it, was greeted by a server. We started with 3 waters with lemon, and 2 titos with sprite. I also had a black cherry white claw. Fridays and saturdays are specials where titos cost $3.00. There are other specials other days as well. We also started with the nachos. The nachos were really good. I was actually surprised to see lots of sushi on the menu, which all looked very good. but i didn't get sushi until the second visit, in which i will update my review. For entrees, i got the fried crabcake sandwich with sweet potato fries, my dad got a ruben with fries, and my mom got a french dip sandwich with fries. We all enjoyed our meal, and paid via credit card and left a cash tip. Little did we know, we'd be...
Read moreRespond to owners 2nd reply of my review. All you had to do is say give us a another chance and ask for you. But again you state we cant be satisfied inferring that we are unreasonable. Yet Doyles, Dockside, Leftys - and others simuliar to your type of opperation we have been more then satisfied.
I run a business and never put down a customer who posts a review on my business. I reach out to them and act professionally when I address their posts, you instead reply in an Arrogant condescending manner.
Re sandwich that photo was the other ½ of the Ruben the other side had some meat but was skimpy that side shown had none that was my point. Re blurry photo clearly no response was needed from you since the photo was blurry and there was nothing there, yet you decided to respond and do so in a negative manner mocking my photo taking skills which is totally uncalled for from any owner, and then you make it as my attempt to belittle your staff??? How ridiculous an un appropriate. Note the photo was supposed to be of the drink size you say was standard I tagged the wrong photo.
I was not rude or nasty to you or your staff. As you felt it necessary to do towards your customer
As per my 2nd bad reviews, I came back and said it was better but still issues yet you respond back in a distasteful belittling manner HEY FOLKS this is the owner dont say anything he will try to belittle you.
Update. Went there today 11/12/24 Bartender much better. Food ok but skimpy I ordered Ruben 1/2 and had little to no cornbeef. My wifes BLT WAS COLD. Wine glass is VERY small, almost cordial size.
Old New bartender with long dark red brown hair seems like she hates being there no personality, you had to flag her down for everything, never asked if we liked our food, asked if we wanted another drink or even seemed to care at alk. everyone around the bar felt...
Read moreI have been to Calloways probably 50 times. The food has never been exceptionally bad, nor has it ever been exceptionally good. It can bes be described as the lower end of average. Considering the quality, the prices are somewhat high. The service is far below average; most of the servers are mid to late twenties, with the 80's/90's baby attitudes...the kids who got prizes for coming in in 14th place at field day...and are SHOCKED AND OFFENDED when they are questioned about why its taking so long to get an order of meatloaf and chicken fingers on the table. To make matters worse, the owner does his best Artie Buocco impression, going table to table trying to make small talk, when he should be getting his staff to speed things up. I know this isn't the Oak Room at the Plaza, but 45 minutes to bring out food that clearly is not prepared to order is ridiculous, especially early on a Monday night. When the torture of dinner concluded, we ordered an apple pie type dessert and a bowl of chocolate chip ice cream. After waiting 25 minutes for the desserts to arrive, and another 10 trying to make eye contact with our servers to tell them our order was wrong, I marched the ice cream right into the kitchen and told him they should at least bring out the right ice cream. Apparently its more difficult to ignore a customer in the kitchen, because everyone started scurrying around at about twice the snail's pace they were out in the dining room. After returning to my seat, Artie Buocco came to the table to ask what the problem was. After rehashing our whole experience, I cut him off when he started making excuses about the service. He apparently didn't think the service was all that bad, and that 45 minutes wasn't such a long time to wait for chicken fingers. Maybe the coach needs to be replaced, and not the entire first string...
