Last night, I ventured out to Eagleville with one of my lovely monthly dining companion dates. The drive out to Sorelles Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria was pretty and didn't seem like the 30 minutes it took. When we arrived my companion thought from a previous lunch visit that you needed to go in the side door, but it turns out that the front door signs are just about not keeping the door propped open 🤷 We were seated immediately in the rear portion of the restaurant. I'll only mention it this once, but they really need a better "watch your step" sign for the giant step down. My elderly family members would definitely need help stepping down. The place was clean and seemed to be organized. Servers were milling around. Lots of food was brought out in what seemed to be a timely manner. Though I didn't complain nor did I treat her poorly on tips, our waters were never refilled and we were never asked if we wanted a refill on wines. Speaking of wine, the prices seemed a little steep for a small town, but maybe things have changed in small towns. I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon that was $15, and it was a little corked. I know things like that happen, and I just removed some of the debris with my finger. My companion's glass of white was $11, and I don't believe hers was corked. For appetizers, we ordered garlic knots and fried calamari, and we were pleased with how they came out. The calamari was delicious, seasoned well (though a few pieces received a bit too much salt, so it appears to have only been a salt distribution issue). The knots were crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. The sauce that came with the calamari was good. The knots were sitting in a garlic butter pool, but I ordered a cup of marinara for them, too. For the main, the opted for a pizza. You see, my friend had been here for the other dishes and had been pleased but wanted to try this NY style pizza. We ordered a build your own: meatball, garlic, and bell pepper. I want to start the whole thing with a comment that the pizza was not bad. It was an okay pie with decent flavor, but the toppings were sparse and the crust was both a little thicker and a lot crispier than we expected. All the while it was also more pale than expected. I hope I'm making sense. It really just was not what we expected in NY style pizza. I can say that we took the leftovers home and I will enjoy them, but I will probably add some additional toppings to the pizza. Most of the food coming out of the kitchen was not pizza, so I'm assuming that others might have decided, like my companion, that their Italian menu is better than their pizza. Go and see for yourself! Take a drive out to what looks like the cute little downtown area of Eagleville. They do have gluten free options (even the pasta!) but last night was a normal pizza night for us. And really, all of the Italian dishes coming out of the kitchen looked great, and our appetizers were delicious! All together, a 16" pizza, 2 apps, and 2 glasses of wine was just under $80 + tip. Considering the amount of food I brought home, that's pretty affordable.

Everything was so delicious. The garlic knots were the perfect flakiness and crunch in one bite. You can tell that everything is freshly made. Chicken parm was scrumptious! Will be back again for the pizza! Looked so good!

Kudos to Caitlyn. Meeting friends got us stopping in the tiny town of Eagleville and in the doors of Sorelles on a bustling Friday night. Not bad being our friends are from Minnesota and us recent transplants to South Carolina to find this gem after both being in Tennessee for a baby shower. We were seated in the bar area, which is situated on the end of the kitchen just past the takeout window. Wood floors, tongue and groove plank ceiling, faux brick wall on one side and windows on the other with a four stool bar on the end. Tables and chairs ran the narrow run and live music from a sax player permeated the air. Sorelles, which means sister in Italian, is owned and operated by sisters Kyah and Jodi formerly from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Recipes passed down from generations with fresh ingredients and made from scratch items like chicken parmesan, baked ziti, spaghetti, homemade meatballs, sausage and hand-tossed pizzas. First was an appetizer of Mozzarella Sticks that had a crunchy texture with a chewy cheese middle served with their own homemade marinara. Followed by their sizable 18” hand-tossed New York-style Meat Lovers pizza that was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, ham and bacon. Crust was baked to perfection and we enjoyed every bite. Caitlyn was our server and she made our dining experience even more memorable.

When we arrived my companion thought from a previous lunch visit that you needed to go in the side door, but it turns out that the front door signs are just about not keeping the door propped open 🤷

We were seated immediately in the rear portion of the restaurant.

We have gone to Sorelle’s numerous times and each time I get the Scarpariello. Well tonight the meal was very disappointing for both my husband and I. To start the bread/garlic knots came to the table burned and extremely crispy. I tried to stab them with a fork and couldn’t so I scooped them out of the paper lined basket, which leaked on the table. When I proceeded to try to eat them they were so crunchy they were hard to chew and I couldn’t cut them with a knife without a lot of effort. Well I thought ….at least the rest of the meal would make up for that. But I was wrong. My Scarpariello came and the sauce was very bland when all other times this sauce is full of flavor. My husbands Stromboli came and it was mostly filled with cheese and next to no meat. Our waters were NEVER refilled. We had someone come to our table and ask how everything was and we told her. She said “thank you we like to hear honest reviews” but NOTHING was done to compensate us for the meals in any way. And there was no reason given as to why everything was so sub par for such expensive meals. I’ve written rave reviews on this restaurant before because I liked the meal and I wish I could have again today as well…but I feel that this was so bad it also deserves a review. I will say on a positive note, we asked for a quiet table as we were in the middle of a phone conversation. They took us to the back room which is something they have never offered to us before. The back room is far better than the front if you want a more quiet atmosphere. Last time we brought friends and sat in the front area because they wouldn’t take us to the back and we couldn’t hear...

Edit #2: As of my last visit there is still no signage about the 2% to-go fee, and the payment screen is still programmed to skip showing you your charges. So they are in fact charging customers without telling them, which is illegal. My offer still stands to remove my review if they fix it.

Edit: I appreciate the response. While I've seen the card fee listed, I've never seen a to-go fee listed and I intentionally looked for it last time. Perhaps I somehow missed it. Will order again soon, and update my review.

I would like to clarify, the employees and staff seem like great hard working people - my review was on product consistency and extra fees. Thank you.

Original Comment: The food is usually good. As a local, it’s convenient to order the pizza to-go every now and then. It’s been amazing sometimes, but a couple times the crust fell apart in our hands as it was too thin and undercooked. So it can be a bit of a gamble.

My main issue is deceptive pricing. If you order to-go they charge you a to-go fee without telling you and their payment screen skips right past it (on purpose?). I only found out about the fee because I noticed the price wasn’t adding up and asked for a receipt one time. Per state law you need to disclose fees before payment.

I’m not cheap either, anywhere else I ALWAYS tip 20% or more, but I don’t like being fleeced.

Also worth noting - they are the only restaurant I’ve ever been to that charges a card fee, so be prepared to pay higher than the menu price if you don’t have cash.

Would be happy to change this rating if they update their fee...
