I am in shocked with this bakery. My whole family just loves lemon meringue pie and I wanted to try a good bakery made pie. So I thought since I purchase all my baked good from Sorrento's that their pies must be good too. Wow the lemon meringue pies were great, but for Mothers Day May 12, 2019 I special ordered 2 lemon meringue pies that to my surprise were burnt on the top. I thought oh maybe the peaks will taste like roasted marshmallows. Well they tasted horrible. I couldn't figure out why such a bad taste. I took a picture of both pies so I could show the owner and ask how could you give this out to your good customers. It wasn't just the very dark top it was the taste. I had to remove all the peaks off the pies, picture how the pies looked then. So on my daughter's birthday May 24, 2019 two weeks later I planned to purchase a birthday cake and show the picture of the pies. I just wanted to let the owner see what the baker was doing and hear the words, I'm sorry, but I got a very nasty woman who insisted that that was how the lemon meringue pie is. She actually argued with me and kept saying over and over that that's what lemon meringue pies are. She then said where are the pies? Did you bring them back? I said no we removed the tops and served them. I thought showing a picture wasn't good enough. She then continued to say very loud that I wasn't getting any refund. I told her I wasn't looking for a refund after all we ate them, I just wanted her to know that it wasn't nice to give these pies out to your customers, after all I would want to know if my customers were unhappy with my products. Make sure if you order lemon meringue pies from them you tell them not to burn the top. I will never go back to that bakery because of the way I was treated when I complained about how her pies upset me and my guests on Mother's Day. What would you do in...

I have been ordering from here for about six years and the food is great. Unfortunately I could only give three stars because the service. The last three times I have called the woman answering the phone has been unhelpful and rude. First, I called and asked to place an order for pick up, she placed me on hold for five minutes, came back on the phone and I asked again then she put me on hold again for seven more minutes. I figured she forgot about me so I hung up and called back and she placed me on hold for another five minutes! I finally hung up and went elsewhere. The second time she asked what time I wanted to pick up my lunch and I said 12:10. She said she couldn't put that time in because "they" would be mad at her. I asked her why it would take 40 minutes to make two sandwiches and she said it probably wouldn't but she put it in just to be safe? The third time she asked what time i wanted to pick up I said 12:15, a half hour from the time I had called. She preceded to tell me that the food takes 20-25 minutes to make so she is putting it in for 12:30?! I said I did not understand since the time I gave was 30 minutes away. She kept repeating the same thing and then said fine, I'll put it in for 12:15. Since they have gotten a "new system" the service has declined and the food takes twice as long as it used to according to this woman. If you do not want to take phone orders just say it up front. 1 time is a bad day, 2 times is an issue, 3 times is unacceptable and I will be going...

We’ve been to this bakery several times for their deli. We used to rate the food quality as excellent but more recently it is just average. The service on the other hand has moved from above average to severally below average. Let me set the stage. There are a total of 7 workers behind the counters (it’s a big and long bakery), not including those “in the back” who prep, bake, etc. 3-4 out of those 7 employees are near or at the deli area. However, only one person will actually make sandwiches, provide cold cuts, or salads. And this one individual is VERY MEAN. He doesn’t acknowledge you or have any eye contact. There is a good chance this might be why other employee’s won’t get near or assist. He is also very slow so the line just backs up. Even though people were lined up before the 5pm cut off for the deli, he yelled at them to go away and just left. It’s just unbelievable; we’ve seen this happen the last two times we went. We will never return or recommend this...

I’m extremely disappointed with Sorrento Bakery. I’ve picked up ready-made cakes and baked goods from them many times before and was usually satisfied. However, a few days ago I placed a special order for a birthday cake and gave very detailed instructions. Unfortunately, when we received the cake today—right before the party—it was nothing like what I ordered. It was poorly made, missing key details, and looked awful. I didn’t have time to return it since the party was about to start, and unfortunately, I wasn’t the one who picked it up—my boyfriend did, and it was a 25-minute drive. If I had seen it at pickup, I would have never accepted a cake in such poor condition. This was really frustrating and disappointing. I will never order a custom cake from Sorrento again. 👇first 3 pics are what I got and the 4th photo is what I ordered

For past 15 years we always drove all the way from NYC to enjoy the cakes here. The chocolate ganache and strawberry shortcake are their best, so amazingly moist and not over powering sweet. The pound cakes also very moist. Now that we live on Long Island, the 3-4 hour round trip makes it difficult to come to this bakery. Didn’t really appreciate how good Sorrento is until we tried all the well known popular LI bakeries. None of them come close to Sorrento, LI bakeries either make them too dry or too sweet. Sorrento set the bar too high, we’re spoiled. You guys really need to open 2nd bakery on LI, you’ll make a killing. Nobody knows what a great bakery suppose to be like. To be fair, the picture of the cake is 1 day old. Still very moist but doesn’t do it justice when you enjoy it on same day.

So I used to have a personal preference of never ordering sandwiches outside of a Hudson County deli, but this place floored me in the best way. Food: I ordered a roast beef and mozz sandwich which was surprisingly tasty. I add hot peppers instead of roasted red peppers which was also an insanely smart decision. Most importantly, the bread was outstanding. Aesthetic: Nice spread of package goods on shelves lined the floor that made its way to the deli area, and I love the fact that they have three separate areas which includes the deli, bread, and sweets/baked goods. Service: the guy who helped me at the counter was super cool and double checked with me while working on everything I ordered, which I greatly appreciate from a deli.
