We were really looking forward to dining here and quite frankly, in the six weeks we've lived here, this was our biggest disappointment of an extensive list of dining out.
First, with a name like the foundry, it would be easy to assume it's a craft beer heavy joint that might include some bada$$ craft cocktails.... Nope. It's more like an Apple Bees... With a short list of craft beers and nothing creative in the cocktail department.
Second, we ordered shrimp Street tacos and twisted Mac & cheese. Despite ordering the shrimp blackened, they were utterly flavorless and so dry they were hard to swallow. I managed to get one down and couldn't continue. My fiance took one bite and she didn't want them either. And.... They were cold.
Third, speaking of cold... The Mac & Cheese was so cold it was stuck together. We let the bartender know and just asked to have it heated up. It came back barely Luke warm. We finished it off because we were hungry, but it should be known that it was INCREDIBLY salty.
I will say that the bartender, Kimmy was very kind and in good spirits. The place in and of itself is beautiful.
In the end, put a solid restaurant with quality craft food, a solid craft beer list, and some bomb cocktails... And you'll have a strong competitor for some of the greatest restaurants in the area... Until then, unfortunately, this is a missed opportunity for a great space.

UPDATE: 7/1/2022 We went into East Jordan to eat at a nearby taco joint. Unfortunately it was closed. So we decided to give Foundry another try, hoping something has changed in the last year.
Unfortunately, it's the same. The Mac and cheese once again came out ice cold, fish sandwich was barely room temp, and the fish tacos were no better. In fact, I would say they were worse because there was legitimately 2x the breading to fish. It was more like eating a hush puppies with a hint of fish.
We made mention of the Mac and we did receive a warm version thereafter.
When ordering a margarita, the bartender took our order but apparently needed a smoke break and asked another young lady to make the drink. She didn't share with her that it was a top shelf. Noticing the ingredients she was using, I shared the miscommunication. She corrected it, but unfortunately she was very poorly trained and was quite hesitant on how to make it. Not her fault at all and rather a very clear representation of terrible leadership. The guest experience always starts at the top and it is beyond evident from both experiences, ownership is lacking leadership and systems.
Again, as a lifelong entrepreneur and business consultant, I hate leaving a poor review. I also have little tolarence for poorly trained staff and terrible food.all of these things can be corrected when leadership is humble enough to ask for support and is sincerely interested in improving. With a year passing since our last experience and it being equally as terrible, I genuinely cannot fathom how this place is still in business. Nevertheless, I invite you to direct your hard earned money to another venue that is training their crew and delivering a quality, consistent product...
Read moreWe went here for the first time since moving to the area. We had a very courteous server who took great care of us. It was a family dinner, and everyone ordered different kinds of food from the menu, and we were all more than happy with our meals. The fries are the best I've ever had in my life! I honestly hate to give less than five stars because the server and the fries are a 10!! However, there were a couple of issues that I cannot overlook when it comes to dining out. The first issue we had was with flies! There were at least 7 flies that circled our table. This is not only unsanitary, but it's distracting and annoying. My ten-year-old kept trying to squash the flies, while his grandma shrieked in horror each time one came in for a landing on her fish sandwich! yuck! I brought this to the attention of the two hostesses, and they laughed. Maybe they thought I was joking...I was not! After multiple flies landed on my food. I couldn't finish my dinner.. The other issue we ran into was with the two hostesses as well. They were all over the place going in and out of the restaurant (likely why so many flies found their way in), yelling across the room to one another, looking at their phones while customers were waiting, and they kept knocking over the dust pans (at least 5 different times in the hour we were there) which made quite a loud bang and startled us as well as several other tables near and around where we were seated. I truly wish the flies hadn't been an issue. We all had different dishes from the menu and enjoyed it as much as we could before the flies ruined things. I'm sure this can't be a regular occurrence, but it's hard to want to return to the atmosphere like it was. I wish someone would have found a solution to the flies before our meal was...
Read moreWhere do I start? We ordered take out so the only comments on the service are the front desk. I stayed home but my husband said the girl was lovely and very helpful and that the place looked very nice! The food came out very quickly. He ordered a burger and loved it. It smelled amazing to me but I didn't have that, I told him to get me a fish sandwich. O.K.. anyone who knows about food would never put cheese with seafood. It's a cardinal rule. There are no take out menus or online menus, so I had no idea my sandwich would be blasphemed. I assume they thought more cheese is a good thing, who doesn't right. Just not on fish. I couldn't scrape it off, it was fused onto the batter, which was way too thick . I agree with other reviewers, it was so soggy on the bottom that the actual bun was melted to the bottom paper. The leaf lettuce couldn't stand up to the heat, so I got 2 small brown pieces under the fish,. Iceberg or romaine would hold up much better. Both my husbands fries and mine were undercooked and dripping with grease, not crispy or even stiff for that matter. Coleslaw showed promise but it was watery and warm, but the tartar sauce wasn't bad at all. I've heard raves about the pizza. It seems overpriced but if it's good it would be worth it. I'd be willing to try once more, heaven knows we need a really good place to get pizza around here. Not sure who the cook is here, but I would have gladly waited longer to have my food cooked properly. I've cooked in restaurants for over 30 years and a good chef is critical for success. I hope this place makes it, we're all looking for a great...
