The River Room — Restaurant in East Moline

Went there at sunset for a breathtaking sunset over the river, which was worth the trip. The service and food, however, could use some improvement. There was no hostess, we sat ourselves, and it took about 10 minutes to get a server. The servers seemed to be picking random tables and was chaotic. I ordered a sidecar, but it came with salt instead of sugar on the rim. My husband had the smoke and mirror, which tasted like drinking burnt plastic. We ordered food, and at 6 pm, they were out of the steak bites, so we got the crab cakes caprese flatbread. The crab cakes seemed store bought, and the flatbread was a bit soggy and cold. A table next to us ordered the $40 charcuterie plate, which was mostly cheese cubes, salami, and round crackers. So go there for the view, don't expect upscale...

I’ve visited The River Room a few times and have had a generally positive experience, especially when it comes to the bar. The drinks are consistently good, and I highly recommend the Bourbon Smash, it’s one of the standout options. As for the food, I’ve tried a few dishes, but unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed.
