My favorite part of this little adventure I'm on is being able to leave well-deserved reviews. The Storm Shelter takes the cake when it comes to positive reviews. This review is not from a one-off visit, but a place I frequented for a couple weeks straight due to boat problems. You couldn't get stranded at a better restaurant. The owner is attentive to feedback and even quick to hustle when they get slammed (like businesses do sometimes unexpectedly). The head kitchen staff has created a uniquely diverse and equally delicious menu. The entire menu's price point is a real steal! (Upgrade to loaded fries for only a dollar? Yes, Please!) I've witnessed the staff hustle and get creative during power outages just to keep the customers served. These things, just like character and integrity, matters more than most realize. It's a long review, because The Storm Shelter is worthy of it. Beautiful views, killer menu, creative drink list, super affordable, and owned and ran by people that care. A MUST for any looper, passerby, local, or spontaneous road tripper. Don't tell 'em I sent ya, Tell them their reputation precedes them!

Got seated very quickly at about 4:15pm. Waitress took our drink order. Then came back with the drinks and took our food order. While we were waiting for the food I noticed bird droppings on the table (we were dinning outside) and asked the waitress to please bring a wet rag. She brought our food out minus the wet rag and my plate was not what I ordered. I reminded her about the wet rag which she went back and got it and angerly wiped the spot with the bird droppings. The wife finished her entrée and my plate finally came (Flatbread pizza) and the crust was burnt to a crisp. I didn't finish it. Cleanliness very poor. Bird droppings on most of the chairs and tables. Food very poor burnt product.

Fantastic location and great food! It was a beautiful summer day and we sat outside on the deck with one of the best views of downtown Peoria from a restaurant. I ate a delicious blackened cod (no bun) with fries and my pal had a medium rare cooked filet mignon (no bun) and added mushrooms. Both meals were served hot and timely. I wish they had a few more regular IPAs on tap. I also think the deck could use a little more appeal, maybe some plants/flowers. Overall, great place for outside dining. We’ll have to try the inside some day.

We’ve been here before and have had a great time with excellent service, so we were really surprised and disappointed by how things went this time around.

To start, we waited 15 minutes just to get water, and once the rest of our party arrived, we sat another 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. The server made eye contact several times but didn’t approach.

The alcoholic drinks were extremely watered down—like they had been made earlier and left sitting until someone remembered to bring them out. We ordered chips and queso as an appetizer and specifically asked for it to come out well before the entrées. Instead, it arrived just two minutes before our food.

Even worse, only half of our table received food at first. By the time the rest of the meals came out, those who were served first were almost finished—and there were missing items with our order. No one came to check on us, no silverware was provided (we had to find it ourselves), and no one offered refills.

As a server myself, I try to be understanding—but what we experienced was unacceptable. I watched several couples sit down, wait 15–20 minutes without being acknowledged, and then leave. I even told our server about one couple behind us who had been sitting for a while. She admitted she wasn’t the only server, yet still walked away. When she finally went to their table, she seemed annoyed even asking what they wanted to drink.

The food was okay, but when the food is average, the service has to carry the experience. This time, it completely fell flat.

The view is beautiful, but sadly, that alone isn’t enough to make us want to come back. This was the worst service we’ve had in a long time—and that’s incredibly disappointing considering how great past...

I'm confused, is this place full service or self serve? I came here for the first time yesterday evening and got amazing service delivered to our table by Emma. She served us drinks, food and checked in all along the way. Thought to myself, why isn't this place busier with such good food, service and the view!?! Came back tonight thinking it'd be the same. Sat down and was never aknowledged after we sat down! Literally not once. Sat waiting for 30+ minutes then decieed to go order drinks from the bar to bring back to our table. Ordered food from the bartender too (who was amazing BTW and even brought our food to our table!) When we needed a refill we had to go get it from the bartender. The wait staff kept walking by but never acknowledged us or said anything to us, not once. We bussed our own table first when we arrived and then again when we left. As we left we took our plates and set them in the service station. During our stay 2 other tables came and left after not being greeted for 15 min. Almost wanted to tell them that the bartender is the key to service on nights Emma is not there, but minded my business. Needless to say I now know why this place isn't busier. Tonight was hands down the worse service (minus awesome bartender) I have ever received! Mostly because there was no service! The whole almost 1.5 hours we were their not a single member of the waitstaff checked on us! I get the impression that probably these are like some owners daughters working here to keep them out of trouble. Maybe this place is just an after thought and the real business is the upstairs venue for weddings and such. I probably won't come back unless someone can respond to this review with...

If there was a negative star I would have selected that! The service at this place is the worst I have experienced. If you get server Ashley, just leave before she fails to check on you or bring your food. Was there with friends and ordered drinks with an appetizer. Then food shortly there after. We got there a little after 7pm, an hr and half later we still didn’t have even an appetizer. Was told the kitchen forgot to put in the appetizer and she strongly suggested we cancel the appetizer because our food was going to be out in just a few minute. Food still never came until we asked about it and asked to speak to a manager. The manager who was behind the bar sent out a “pretend manager” to deal with the problem . Never was there an apology for the delay, or what happened. Was told again food was right out. When we did get the food, it was cold. Ashley never came back to check on us until we were done eating. When asked for the check she didn’t even know who ordered what. Again NO apology and NO discount, instead ANOTHER server, still NO manager brought us the checks. The entire wait staff played like they were the victims. We are paying customers and treated like we did something wrong. Will NEVER go...
