Taste of Island — Restaurant in East Providence

Came here a couple times and always really good!

Bifana sandwich- really good except I do add cheese and extra red pepper.

Jambalaya pasta- Loved it!! Could add a little more heat for my liking probably just a preference I should have asked for! Next time I will.

Plantains- I asked for a side of plantains with some spicy sweet sauce they gave me and OMG sooooo good!!! I like it as a side note a whole dish with the rice and beans because the pasta is pretty filling enough

Banana bread pudding- Just yummmmmm!!!!! Gotta have it!

The caldo verde soup- My favorite soup!!! Sooooo good!

Cachupa- Hmmmm I like my Cachupa more brothy and not a whole ton of chorizo. They pack that chorizo in there. As to why they put on menu fried Cachupa. I would try if it wasn't fried and not drained.... try putting the regular brothy soupy Cachupa on the menu I'll try again!! !

I've eaten at Taste of Island 3 times so far for lunch, got the Bitoque twice and the 1/2 chicken today. Absolutely unbelievable all 3 times I've ate here, however lunch I got today is probably the best lunch I've ever gotten around here.

My office is 3 minutes from this hidden gem and man am I glad I tried it. I'm not in office most days, but when I do come in this will 100% be the only spot I order from going forward. Everything I've ate has been insanely good.

I can not recommend this place enough. On top of the unreal food, the staff is extremely personable and friendly as well, making it that much more enjoyable. I mean it when I say, this place is unbelievable. If you're in the area and looking for a great meal this is your spot. My only regret is not trying this place sooner! Keep up the great work Taste of Island staff!

I love that this Cape Verdean restaurant opened in east providence, right by my parents house. I should've called ahead to order but instead I ordered in store. The wait was long but the food was good, although the portions were a bit small for the prices. Customer service was friendly and apologetic. We ordered the chicken Mozambique, bistec, and blackened salmon. Our favorite was the bistec. The chicken could have had more flavor and the salmon was a very small portion. We also got two pastel and they were good! I hope this place continues to make improvements as they gain experience since it is a new restaurant. I will definitely give it...
