Chinese Chef Restaurant — Restaurant in Eastman

I don’t know if I got it on the wrong day because I see good reviews and that’s why I came here but I ordered shrimp fried rice and it’s was not good by any means and i am not a picky person. There was not much flavor at all to it and there was something in it that I couldn’t tell what it was so I called and asked what was in it and the only thing I could think is that it was old egg or over cooked chicken but I picked it up and played with it in my hand and it was elastic feeling and wouldn’t break it had the appearance of possibly being egg except it was not yellow it was dark brown kinda looked more so like chicken and I’m a pescitarian so that really had me looking at it funny because I don’t meat.I called the store and told the lady I didn’t eat any of it and I did not like it n there was something funny in it n she said sorry they don’t do refunds after the food goes out the door. I would understand that if they did a preview of the food before you left the store so you can see it and make sure it looks good to you but she did not do that so I got home n seen it n immediately called the restaurant and she handled the situation very poorly. My Experience with the "New" Chinese Chef after the owner Mei moved onto new adventures.

I've been to Chinese Chef three times since they reopened with a new management and a new menu. The first two times, I was very dissatisfied with the quality and service. The food was cold and bland, the plates and utensils were disposable, and the staff was unfriendly and unprofessional. I felt like I wasted my money and time on a terrible meal.

However, my husband convinced me to give them another chance, as he heard some positive feedback from other people. So we went there for the third time, hoping for a better experience.

And we were pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious and hot, the dishes were varied and authentic, and the plates and utensils were ceramic and metal. The waitress was courteous and attentive, and the restaurant was clean and cozy. We enjoyed our meal and felt like we got our money's worth.

I eat here several times a year and am always satisfied. I always eat from the buffet and there isn't a single thing on the buffet that has disappointed me. Sesame chicken, general tso chicken, lemon chicken, and some shrimp dish (I forgot the name of it) are some of the best ones. The eggrolls and cream cheese ragoons are great too. Staff is always very friendly, polite, and attend to customers quickly. The takeout prices can be a bit high, but it is the only place in town, so what can you expect. There is a reason why this place has been thriving over the years while other Chinese places have opened and closed. My only complaint is that the restaurant is dated and the buffet area is small, and placed strangely next to the kitchen. They need more room for all the customers they get.
