Really disappointed. We were excited to eat here and they told us the wait was only 30-40 minutes, "maybe less"... After almost an hour, we were finally seated. Okay, not great but not terrible. Then the waitress walked by our table THREE times before greeting us. I had no idea she was our waitress. She was nice....but clearly there is some training lacking about greeting customers. We placed our drink, appetizer, and food order all at the same time and proceeded to wait 40 minutes for our appetizer to even come out. (side note, I unrolled my utensils and there was a hair wrapped around the fork and knife.) After over an hour, we still hadn't gotten our food.
When the food finally arrived, the sweet potato fries were pretty good. My daughter liked her burger. My son did not like his. I ordered the pork belly tacos and they were very overcooked.... I couldn't even eat them. They seemed like they had been sitting under the heat lamp for 30 minutes.... I don't know if the kitchen was incompetent in preparing them or if the waitress was inattentive to the food being ready. She said she had kept checking on our food so maybe it was the kitchen. She has also mentioned that they were using their "soft launch" menu because half the kitchen had walked out a few days ago so it sounds like there is a management issue.
After being there entirely too long and not being able to eat my food, my husband brought it to the attention of the waitress and the manager comped.....half of my meal. Honestly for as long as we had to wait and the fact that we have an hour to drive home and I won't get to eat until I finally get home at 10:30-11:00 at night, this was not enough. We had gotten there at 7pm!!!
Just a little bit of customer service would have been enough for us to give this place another chance and a better review. Unfortunately, we won't be back. The mindset of the manager sealed the...
Read moreHorrible experience with this restaurant! I made a reservation with a gentleman over the phone for a party of 14 for lunch on June 5th. He said they would have no problem putting us on the patio with plenty of shade and reserved a dock for us. I was planning a company offsite. We rented two boats to take us from the Ritz over to The Lakehouse for lunch. I spoke with the man over the phone multiple times regarding the details of the lunch and he ensured me everything would be set. The day of, my whole office team is checked into the Ritz and getting on boats. I called the restaurant to let them know we were on the way and make sure everything was good to go, when they informed me that they were closed for lunch. This was the main event of the day for us. Taking the boats to lunch. They tried to blame the incident on me saying "who did I speak to?" and saying they can decide when they want to be closed. I only was made aware of the closure because I called them. They had no intention of letting me know. Fortunately, the concierge at the Ritz was able to call around and found a lovely restaurant called Esse that took us and hosted us happily.
Absolutely horribly...
Read moreWe were excited when this restaurant opened and were very eager to try it out. My wife and I decided to eat dinner there on Memorial Day. While the place was pretty full, we were seated relatively quickly. I'll have to say that I was a bit surprised that they had not redecorated the place. Not that it's a big deal, but it still felt like Georgia Butts BBQ. We did wait a while for a staff to acknowledge us, but Chad was quick to apologize and was a super waiter! Kudos to him! We ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They were pretty good, but I could do without the sauce. I ordered the shrimp and grits which was good but not great. My wife ordered fish tacos and a side of onion rings. She was underwhelmed and felt like the fish was just OK and was not prepared fresh. Maybe frozen? Not sure. The onion rings were straight out of a bag. They were out of shoestring fries which was a bummer. The bottom line is that for $60+, the food quality wasn't great. This area desperately needs more restaurant choices, and we had high hopes. I'll probably try it again one day for lunch. I feel for small business owners and like to give them...
