My new favorite steak restaurant. I’m a fan of cooking my own steaks at home, buying from Costco for NY strips or Wegmans/Whole Foods Prime Filets instead of going to Outback or Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse where I can have a better steak for a cheaper price.
However there are times where the home stove does not compare to a 1600 degree burner that creates that ultimate crust and no layer of gray film is seen. At Ember and Eagle, the genius of Chef Ryan DePersio is on display.
For the same price as Charlie’s for a steak, there’s no comparison that Ember and Eagle is worth the trip if you crave cow and all its glory.
From the a la carte sauces to choose from for your steak, the craftsmanship is beyond any norms found anywhere.. bordelaise, bernaise and yes…black truffle emulsion. Wow
The best beef tartare I’ve ever eaten. The pairing of Prime beef tartare with bone marrow is simply divine. This is the ultimate delicacy of a carnivore. $24 is a bargain if you want the taste of beef at its finest preparation.
The parmigiano fries is the standard in fine dining fries. Light, airy and crispy. Mind blowing. I’m sorry Anthony Bourdain and Les Halles, these are the best fries.
The oysters and caviar were amazing. The mushrooms had the perfect texture. The pommes purée was silky and creamy.
I had the NyStrip and it was perfect and my wife had the filet rare. I regret to say that I wish I ordered the filet because it was so tender and juicy that melted in your mouth. The only other time I recalled this sensation was eating a Kobe steak. Yeah. It’s that good. Any bacon added would have been heresy, found at other steak places, like Char. The roasted garlic is also perfection. Not a single charred mark. That is an attention to detail that is noticed by this diner.
Btw, I’ve never seen a palate cleanser on a steak plate until now. What am I talking about? If you ever eaten at Michelin restaurants, there is always a palate cleanser component on your main dish. Think of the ginger when eating sushi. Here you have a balsamic cipollini onion that is a perfect component for the richness of a steak.
The service was impeccable. Staff members were attentive and your empty plate was immediately removed.
I’ve only experienced this level of service professionalism at the defunct Gordon Ramsay’s The London in NYC, a one Michelin star and at Alinea in Chicago, two Michelin stars. Gordon’s attention to detail in every aspect of “fine dining” was on display. I’m sad to see that it’s closed.
I have no complaints about my experience. Everything was perfect…except the atmosphere.
My only red flag was the design of the restaurant. I hope the new building is designed for coziness.
The current plan is not designed for romanticism nor couple quiet dining. The tables are close together and if you have one loud obnoxious diner who cackles all night long and doesn’t realize how rude she is, the night can be marred.
The clientele is mostly older adults who know how to conduct themselves appropriately but sadly there’s always the rude obnoxious stereotypical loud Jersey Shore diners who don’t know how to use their quiet volume level.
The bar on the first level is perfect for after work decompression. This separation of bar and dining is perfect because in most places, the noise level from the bar can be loud and drown out a quiet dining experience. Not here, the bar is huge and the clientele is mostly older professionals who just want to unwind and relax. There’s a gorgeous fireplace where you can take your drinks and relax in a comfy chair. It’s the prefect spot to relax and unwind...
Read moreWas able to secure a babysitter and my wife and I went to Ember and Eagle on Saturday July 13th. We had reservations in dining area, yet really liked the downstairs bar, ambiance, view of golf course and the one man band. ( the one man band was excellent!) We decided to sit at the bar and thought we'd stay here for dinner. Since we Uber'd and previewed what seemed to be a higher-end drink menu, I was looking forward to a bourbon or three and my wife a few restaurant specialties. Unfortunately for me and bourbon drinkers this night, they were out of Blantons, Woodford, Penelope, along with a few others from their advertised list.... I had an Elijah Craig that was a small pour and fortunately for me moved to beers after seeing the dissapointing pour ($18 btw). My wife had a specialty drink with Jalapeño and Tequilla which she liked followed by a few glasses of their Rose which was excellent she shared. Like most upper restaurants they asked us to put in our apps with dinner. The apps we chose were the Octopus 9/10 and the Beef Tartare 11/10.. For dinner my wife had the Lobster roll special, which she loved 9/10 along with the beet salad 6/10 which she thought was ok. I had the Steak special which was tender and well cooked, but when I asked server about side, I was told it came with French Fries ( I would have ordered the creamed broccoli rabe if it was an ala carte dish) 8/10 Anyway, the side dish for me never came... Unfortunately. Probably for the better as we were both full. I asked for a check and informed bartender/server that I was gifted a GC and proceeded to present it to him. Bill was like $215. GC was for more. I was informed that I could not use giftcard balance for tip ( totally understand that, no problem, but want to give a tip) Well you can tip cash I was told. With no ATM in sight I asked if he could charge me $1 on my CC card and I would tip accordingly for the whole bill. They dont like when we do that here he told me. Ok, can you charge me for a drink and I can tip on that. OK,I was told , followed by , I didnt charge you for one of the beers you ordered, so Ill charge you for that then and you can tip. OK I said. I tipped on top of that and left, not with the wonderful tastes from Dinner but rather a little sour from trying to tip along with over hearing the bartender refuse /give a "im busy type response" to a request from patrons near by to take a picture of them. Maybe he was having a bad day, but unfortunately for Ember and Eagle, those interactions are now what were most...
Read moreI gave Ember & Eagle (currently located in Suneagles golf club) 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ When we showed up at Ember and Eagle, the Waiter said to us, "I am sorry, but we are so busy tonight." Would you mind waiting for a bit?" I said, "No problem." He said, "Good, now take these drinks to the table!" 😅 Just kidding, that would never happen here!!! 👎😅
Now on to my real review...
Pros:
The food is so good, you'll want to kiss the chef (but don't, it ended up being weird). Food presentation is on point! Craft cocktails that'll tantalize your taste buds! 🍹 Desserts are like a taste bud party - try them all, you won't regret it! 🍨 Coffee (lattes etc.) available with none dairy milk options! ☕️ Service is top-notch, friendly, attentive, and won't make you feel like a cranky toddler! Views of the golf course and sunsets that'll make you go "ooh" and "ahh"! 🌅 A post dinner bar area (on the lower level) that's both lively and inviting! 🍸 Fireplace vibes in a beautiful lounge area that'll make you feel like you're in a fancy cabin! 🔥 Decor is on fleek, like a design magazine come to life! Both valet and self parking are free and plentiful, like finding a pot of gold (but less likely to get you in trouble with leprechauns)! 🚔
Cons:
Okay, okay, I'll admit it... I thought a dish or two was a tad too salty, but, my fellow diners didn't mind it! (apparently, I'm just a salt-sensitive snowflake 😂).
Gem status 💎
