It appears that chocolate is a very difficult commodity to deliver in perfect condition every time. I've learned to appreciate "fresh & flavorful" and, after sampling the offerings from every provider I know of within 50 miles; there is only one provider that doesn't put it's product over tin foil and under Saran wrap (bad sign, unless you like slow moving, aged/stale product)...never seen that at Criterion Chocolate. Always fresh, always delicious...and it melts!!! Did you ever notice that the crappier chocolate barely melts in your hand. This is not a plug for M&M's; it's an observation that additives effect taste (sorry Hershey & Nestle)...Criterion product still melts!! Buy your chocolate there...there is...

A friend mentioned Criterion Chocolates to me as she used to live in NJ, and still has relatives there. I ordered a pound of dark chocolate nonpariels for her and some dark chocolate turtles as well. When they arrived, she offered me a taste, and I loved 'em. I'll be ordering more for my own enjoyment.

The ordering process is a bit old fashioned ... nothing on line. Gotta make a phone call, talk to people, and then wait a while before getting the chocolate. Kind of nice ... Oh, they won't ship the chocolates during the hot months, especially to California where...

Adorable place a little out of the way but well worth the trip. Two ladies behind the counters were super friendly and help me create a box of chocolates for a friend's retirement gift. They freely offered samples and ideas and we're so nice to chat with. Lots of milk and dark chocolate options and also have their own taffy. The strongest root beer flavored taffy I've ever had absolutely love it. Made myself a box of chocolates as well and I have to say they only lasted about 2 days so I...
