I definitely have to give this place a 1 star rating only because I can't give it 0 stars. Im not from Orlando but a small town going south so I'm use to hospitality and genuine customer service well this place embodies neither. Upon finding the place and pulling into their parking lot I see a older and younger gentleman with mad crab t shirts on talking outside. When I turn my vehicle off and get out the older gentleman sends the younger one around back and he proceeds into the front door and letting it slam behind him. I was taken back by that gesture especially as a local ran black business I hold each other accountable for how we treat one another and I'm starting to notice the same pattern at alot of these black owned businesses here in Orlando. They don't show appreciation to paying customers definitely not the ones that look like them. I saw a white family enter there and every employee perked up put a smile on their face and spoke. There's another business not far down the street that's black owned call Coleman's pizza and upon walking into their establishment you get greeted just as coldly. I guess if you are a associate or family member of them you can receive warm customer service. Upon entering the older gentleman was to the right of me stocking a beverage cooler, still refuse to acknowledge me and I was left standing at front counter eventually another younger kids came up and greeted me which I appreciated it but his parents (the owners) I'm sure need to pay more attention to the way they handle people walking through their door. I payed $40 bucks for a few snow crab clusters and some fried shrimp. To have your prices Jack through the roof you would think he's local on black businesses would appreciate any body coming in there to support their high prices and at least greet them with some kind of...
Read moreDon't eat here--unless you're prepared for a whole new addiction. We just got home from this hidden gem and oh my goodness... amazing! First thing you'll notice is that it's pretty much a shack. VERY limited seating so take out is recommended. We walked in and it was about half full. I couldn't sit inside though because the smell, although good, was too overwhelming for this preggo lady. There was a table outside and it was breezy and cool out with the impending rain on the horizon. When we ordered, the young gentleman at the counter was very friendly, helpful and articulate. He told us they make everything to order here so expect to wait a little bit for your food (it's worth it!). We only waited about 20 minutes and there were three of us. Our names were called and once the food boxes hit the table, we were greeted with this instant fragrance of what can only be described as pure deliciousness. I ordered the fried shrimp (comes with hush puppies and fries) and added the mild garlic flavor to it. My hubby ordered the lobster and sausage (came with corn and potatoes). Not sure what our friend ordered because I was so consumed with my immediate surroundings (I was hAngry). The shrimp was great. The guys tried mine and our buddy said he'd eat those over wings all day. The fries were good. I'm not a fan of hush puppies but our friend said they were awesome. My hubby devoured his lobster and said everything else was good too. I tried a bite of his sausage and it was sweet and perfectly cooked. The locals were friendly too. We didn't feel out of place; we felt welcomed here, by everyone. We'll definitely be back. It's a half hour from where we live but it's going to be well worth the drive. Next time I'll...
Read moreService: both employees who helped us were personable, kind, welcoming. Eager to help customers pick from the menu to make sure we left with something we would like. They weren't afraid to tell customers not to order too much - they knew we'd be coming back for more!
Made to order, saw a revolving door of orders while we waited the 20 minutes it took to whip up our food - they must be popular!
Food: While everything was made to order, the seafood was meaty and the flavour seeped into every inch of the food, not a single bit of it tasted bland like some other places can be.
Have had boils/trays in Maryland, Virginia, Arizona, California, New Orleans, and now Florida. I'm confident to say Mad Crab by far is THE best seafood tray I've ever had.
Ordered lb snow crab/shrimp tray with garlic butter and lb crawfish with house sauce for 2 people. The house sauce had a nice kick while the garlic butter was flavourful and garlicky without being too salty.
We were sure we'd have plenty of leftovers, but licked the plates clean they were THAT GOOD.
Overall, great service & atmosphere(they take care of you like you're family), amazing food. Will definitely have to visit again next time I'm in...
