Authentic, warm, & Delicious!
Tonight, Natalie and I experienced something truly extraordinary at Eight60 Wine Whiskey Bites. After a frustrating and chaotic evening driving through downtown New Orleans, trying in vain to find parking and a place to eat, we decided to escape the madness and look for a place off the highway. Exhausted, hungry, and craving simplicity, we stumbled upon this gemโand what a discovery it was!
From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted by Sarah, the bartender, whose warm, enthusiastic smile immediately melted away the stress of our evening. It was not the typical, obligatory greeting you get at most establishmentsโthis was genuine. Her energy made us feel like we had chosen the right place, even before we sat down.
As we headed to the restroom to freshen up, another staff member greeted us with the same heartfelt enthusiasm. It was clear this place was special; the people here genuinely cared about their guests.
We had unknowingly walked in just five minutes before the kitchen was set to close (9:55 p.m.). As someone who has worked in the service industry for years, I know how unwelcome a late order can be. Understanding this, I approached the kitchen staff to ask what would be the simplest dishes to prepare. I was met with kindness and encouragementโthey told me to order anything I wanted and not to worry. They were accommodating and gracious in a way that immediately put us at ease.
To keep things simple, we ordered every appetizer on the menu, along with a flatbread. And let me tell you: this was hands-down some of the best food I have ever eaten. Each bite was packed with flavor, authenticity, and an undeniable sense of care from the kitchen staff. It was the perfect mix of delicious and comfortingโa meal made with love, not just skill.
We ate until we were full, savoring every bite. Before we left, we made sure to thank the kitchen staff for their hospitality and let them know how much we appreciated their incredible work.
All in all, this experience was a highlight of our trip and an absolute must for anyone looking for a memorable meal. The atmosphere, the food, andโmost importantlyโthe people, made this a dining experience unlike any other.
If youโre anywhere near this restaurant, make it a priority to stop in and experience it for yourself. And if you happen to meet Sarah, let her know that Thomas and Natalie sent youโand that we left a raving review for her and the entire team.
Thank you, Eight60 Wine Whiskey Bites, for turning our night around and making us feel so welcome. Weโll...
ย ย ย Read moreI was pushed at Eight60 by another guest that had too much to drink . She yelled at me and told me and my friends to get out. The lady had been looking at us for a while as if we were not from this planet . As if we were not allowed there. The lady then stood up from where she was sitting and pushed me towards the door out of no where . No, we said nothing to upset her besides that we grew up here in Slidell . After she asked where we were from . Thinking she was being friendly we thought nothing of it . She called us liars . The staff did nothing . I am still extremely hurt by the situation. Eight60 has yet to reply to me and apologize. It has been well over 48 hours . Again , the employees stood there and watched . Did not ask the guest to leave . I am stuck to believe that you all tolerate your guest pushing others that donโt look like them with no consequences. You all are okay with people being treated this way . If youโre reading this think twice about going here . Yes the drinks are good and food is okay but what theyโre standing for and what they are allowing in this establishment is far beyond bad service. Itโs terrible character . I am truly hurt that the owners have yet to...
ย ย ย Read moreA group of us went on a busy Valentines night. The parking lot was already full and the din as I entered the restaurant, was almost overpowering. The acoustics and sound system were horrible. We couldnโt hear each other most of the evening. Thatโs my only complaint.
Otherwise, itโs one of the best dining experiences Iโve had in a long time. Some of the group chose the Valentines menu and others had the (huge) burgers or mahi mahi tacos. I had the extraordinary luck to choose the Sweet Thai Shrimp as a small dish. They came out perfectly fried with a crisp outer shell of flour and tender shrimp inside. The portion was generous. Enough for me to allow six other people to try a shrimp and for me to have enough for a meal afterwards. Truly one of the better dishes Iโve ever had in my long pastime of reviewing restaurants. The bill came to less than $20 not including tip. Kudos to our server, Scott, who took orders, had drinks on the table in minutes and even took photos of the group for us. He made it...
