I wanna start by saying that my server & food were awesome. She was very sweet & helpful. The food was good & fast. I got garlic cheese bread & a small thin crust pepperoni, sausage, jalapeno, & garlic pizza. Loved it & would totally eat it again. Also, I worked in food service for a long time so I get long days & that people don't wanna work past closing, but it happens all the time & you just count on that happening in this line of work.
OK, the reason for the 2/5. I showed up on a Friday night (tonight) after driving to Minneapolis to observe a student & her mentor at the Minnetonka football game. I found this place on Google & it had great reviews & was fairly close to my hotel, so I thought I'd give it a try. I arrived just before 10pm, they close at 11pm. When I walked in the kitchen guy looked at me like I was crazy & asked if he could help me. Not in the he really wanted to help, but in the 'why in the hell are you here, please leave' way. I told him I wanted to eat if they were still open (knowing they were open for another hour). He asked if I wanted to dine in or take out. I said dine-in if possible. He rolled his eyes & asked the server if she'd take another table. Again, they were supposed to be open for another hour. She graciously said yes & they told me to sit wherever. I had already looked at the menu so I ordered quickly & ate quickly. Then at 1030p some of the football players came in & he was nice as pie to them asking about the game & joking with them. When I left at 10:35p he did remind the the players that they close at 11p. I have never in all my life heard of a restaurant actively harassing paying customers & telling them that they basically weren't welcome or to hurry up & get out. Terrible customer service, as in, I've never experienced something like that before even at fastfood places. I'm from TX & everyone says people up here are Midwest nice. There is nothing nice about walking into a restaurant & feeling like you are an unwelcome burden to them just for wanting to pay them for their service. Side note, the FB players just left (10:52pm).
Sad thing is, I really did like their food & would have raved about this place if it weren't for the kitchen guy. I'd fire him if I owned the place. He's gonna cost you business in the long run with an attitude like that. He definitely...
Read moreDetello’s Pizza off Dell Road is an absolute gem and one of the best local spots for authentic, delicious pizza in the area! The moment you step inside, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and family-friendly. The interior is clean and spacious, with plenty of seating options for groups or solo diners, making it perfect for family dinners, casual dates, or takeout nights.
The pizza here is incredible—crispy crust, perfectly melted cheese, and a great balance of toppings on every bite. Their menu is diverse, offering a variety of specialty pizzas, calzones, pastas, salads, and sandwiches. I highly recommend the Detello’s Special—it’s loaded with flavor and a true standout. They also accommodate dietary preferences, and the gluten-free crust is one of the best I’ve had.
The staff at Detello’s are fantastic—super friendly, efficient, and attentive. Even during busy hours, they maintain a high level of service, making sure orders come out hot and fresh. They also handle special requests with care, which shows they genuinely value their customers.

Read moreThe sad part is, the food is actually really good here. But here are my complaints:
-They have lunch specials but only M-W (don't people eat lunch other days?!) -They don't have a lunch menu online. -The menu online says meals include garlic bread AND a salad. BUT the truth is, if you order for carry-out, they won't give you the salad. (Pretty uncool since I AM paying full meal price which isn't cheap.) -The girls you get when you call to order are a little snotty. I've called and asked a couple questions about foods I hadn't tried, and usually am made to feel like I'm being unreasonable for having a question.
Bottom line is, I like the food. And the cute cook guy that has cashed me out who was extremely nice and polite. BUT, I feel like they do not properly take care of their customers with all these LIMITITATIONS on when and what is included. I don't like when I try to support small businesses and they nickel and dime me. I paid $14 + tip when I ordered some lasagna and a beverage. It shouldn't be an issue to give me the side salad that sit down...
