This place is only 6 weeks old at the time of this writing, and so far, this place is pretty nice. It doesn't smell like a brewery yet. That's not a value statement. Some like that, some don't. No judgment here. So far, I haven't had a beer here that I didn't like, although that's only a couple so far. I've also tried two of the sandwiches. They have a Kimchi Reuben, which I haven't tried before and is amazing. This place is run by a small group, and it was easy to talk to them. In fact, we were asked about details of the food, so they could adjust the recipe for future customers. This shows just how small-brew this brewery is, and I found it charming. It wouldn't surprise me if there were small changes in the flavors and qualities over time, and again, that's not an evaluative statement. Many of us like subtle changes in the recipe or experimentation when it comes to these small breweries, even if other prefer consistency. The atmosphere is not perfect for me. I'm not the biggest fan of sports on the television while I'm in a brewery. That's just me though. I prefer to play games with friends and I find televisions to be a distraction. They have three displays there, and I would love to see them dedicate a display to their beer making processes. This could be the beers they have on tap, the state of the beer they're brewing, what beers are selling best, or anything like this, so long as it's mellow and not distracting. I didn't notice a menu, so, that might be smart. That said, the tables are nice and big and great for games. The general decor is a bit unfocused, but charming. The windows are big and west-facing, so this place is nice for evenings.
This area has needed a brewery for a long time. I just hope they don't get too big...
Read moreGreat stop on the way to a family function, we accidently stopped here. This place is great. Hubs always cocktails, I always want beer. We parked a bit confused about the location/doors (they bought the place next door that has cocktails 21+ there but brewery is all ages). The owner/brewer opened the door and asked if we wanted cocktails and he invited us in.
So far so good. He offered us a Bloody Marys (Sunday football pre noon) so we agreed and I asked for spicy and he said great, his always are.
Needless to say, we spoke with him about his business (discount to military and First Responders) and I had to sneak next door to the brewery (passageway inside didn't have to go into the rain) and tasted the best Amber beer ever. A bit nutty and called Red Beard Amber (the owner had a red beard).
This place is great. Tried to convince him to open a in in my neighborhood but he doesn't want to move out of state, yet! Cozy atmosphere, good for just your friends or your family. Good looking menu and anything you want to drink in a...
Read moreThe Chef Salad That Changed My Life.
I came to Acorn Brewing for a beer⊠and left with a spiritual experience in a bowl. The chef salad here isnât just a salad â itâs a full-blown performance art piece. Weâre talking crispy lettuce fresher than my grandmaâs opinions, generous heaps of meats and cheeses that could make a deli blush, and hard-boiled eggs placed so perfectly, I suspect a food stylist moonlights in the kitchen.
Somehow, this glorious mountain of protein, veggies, and dairy still manages to convince you youâre eating âhealthy.â Itâs basically CrossFit in a bowl.
Pair it with a cold pint and youâll achieve what ancient philosophers could only dream of: true balance.
If you donât order the chef salad at Acorn, are you...
