Our friend told us about this hole in the wall place that had the best tikka masala and she was right! We ordered on a Sunday afternoon at around 1:30 for pick-up and were quoted a wait time of 25 minutes. It actually took a bit longer and they were still trying to pack our order up when we got there - so just make sure you leave enough time before you actually go in.
For apps, we tried the vegetable and the chicken samosas. They weren't really my cup of tea, but I did like the chicken one more, overall.
For our mains, we had the chicken tikka masala with some vegetable curries. The chicken itself isn't great - there's only three small pieces and it's kind of dry. But the star is definitely the sauce itself. It's so good that you won't even care about the dry chicken. I'm sure there's a stick of butter and a cup of heavy cream in there but when you eat it, you won't care about that either. All you need is their buttery naan and their fluffy rice to sop it all up. The vegetable curries were flavorful, but a bit on the salty side. Again, nothing some naan can't fix.
It seems like the goat curry is pretty popular here, so I wouldn't mind trying that next time (and getting more of that chicken tikka...
Read moreI've been going to this restaurant for take-out food from the time it was opened. It was more of a mom-and-pop kind of place where we used to get some delicious food customized to your taste. I have written reviews about this in the past with a rating of 5/5. But, lately I find the quality of food deteriorating. Today, I wanted to give it another chance before I write another review. I got a few items. But, one of my favorite items used to be the Goat Sheekh-Kabab. I got this as one of the items this evening. When I brought it home, I was shocked to see the state of the sheekh kabab - it was dry and almost looked like dog food. I felt that is was heated and re-heated multiple times. Absolutely no onions or lemons along with it like it used to come earlier. Looks like the management has changed. It used to be so juicy and came in a better container in a more affordable price. This is one of the more expensive items on the menu today. I am never going to...
Read moreMy family has been coming here for years as my dad loved the food and the owner. He loved ❤️ the fact that the restaurant's facade is very plain looking, the food was not. After trying the samosa and vindaloo, I agreed that the cuisine was very good. Being a New Yorker, I'd say it was as good as Milon Bangladesh on 1st street. But in the past few years, the taste was declining. The taste went from Heh to Meh, but still edible. However, today, my mom decided to try the vindaloo again, and it was amazing. They either changed chefs or changed the recipe. Because the sauce not only tasted much better, visually, the color ing was less red, more red-orange and the sauce had a thinner consistency, less gravy like. I actually think this is the BEST vindaloo I've had, ever 👅🙌 .
It's the perfect amount of spice and would love the option to buy this version of the sauce if it were...
