Coming from Texas born & raised this is by far the best hispanic food you will find around Effingham. I’ve personally tried all Hispanic food locations & more than once. It’s true, authentic, and full of flavor bursting with culture compared to other local restaurants. (My opinion) I am far from the dull & bland ingredients. If you like flavor with spice this is THE place to go. Even if you’re not interested in the pop of spice they can adjust accordingly, & every meal is made to order, on the spot! Nice and fresh, sauces on the side. With every meal comes salsa and a bag of chips. The Horchata is a hit!! Refreshing and delicious! 🤤 Not to mention the PRICES, they are perfect especially for the amount of food they give you. I have personally also tried the pollo plate, the shrimp plate, chicken plate and steak plate! It is a plate of authentic Mexican rice with your choice of protein drizzled in queso blanco! Read moreWhile passing thru Effingham, i remembered that every day is a good day for ice cream, and decided to make a quick stop at the Homewood Grill. I forgot that they dont have winter hours !! ZOINKS!
Fortunately, La Terraza Express was next door selling tacos !
And tacos are also good every day.... lol
I had the pollo de playa, which waa basically shreded chicken, rice, and queso.... along with three fresh tortillas (all fpr $7... $8 ...if you count the $1 can of ice cold Coca Cola
It was awesome
Definitely some great affordable eats either at their main location or the Expreas trailer next door to Hometown Grill. I will grab some ice cream at home....

Coming from California I know my food this food is old and only could be cook some much...but enjoy effingham Illinois...
