The place is dirty. I had to kick a dirty fork out from under my table to keep my toddler from getting it, and that was just the biggest thing. There was dirt and debris all over the floor. Walking out, I counted over 15 sweet'n'low packets on the floor, telling me that they must have a big elderly rush drinking coffee in the mornings, by 7pm, they still haven't swept. The ladies room was, according to my wife, dirty. She had to change the toddler's diaper standing up because the changing station wasn't clean.
As for the food, it was the blandest mexican food I've had in years. The salsa for the tostadas was not spicy or flavorful. The picadillo burrito was 95% blackened ground beef, 5% vegetables. The bite that had vegetables was good, despite the charred meat, but everything had no flavor except "burnt". I ate half before I decided it wasn't worth the space in my belly. The chile verde burrito had tender meat, and could have been good, except it had no flavor at all. It had more veggies than the picadillo (all boiled, apparently), but I couldn't find any signs of green chiles. I ate 2 bites and gave up.
My wife had a combo plate with enchiladas, tacos and flautas; her description was "I'm not impressed" before pushing away a plate with 60% of the food still on it. Trying to make the best of it, we asked for some hotter salsa, so we could put some flavor on our bland food. They didn't have any.
The cucumber agua fresca was ok, but it's not cold until they put ice in it, and they don't put much. I had to wait for the ice to melt before it was cold enough to drink. They DID offer 1 free refill, which is not common, but many places give a cup twice as big.
The dining area was not quite hot, but it was warm. All ceiling fans were on, but the AC was not. It wasn't unbearable, but it wasn't comfortable.
The cashier asked if everything was good, and I politely gave her my honest opinion. She said she'd let "them" know, but there was no offer of even a small discount. Honestly, I don't blame them for that. Even if they'd comped my whole meal, I wouldn't...
Read moreWell, it’s been a while since we had been there. I had the lunch special in which I chose the chicken tacos. They came with rice and beans and a small soup with rice and corn tortillas. We got greeted after 10 minutes of waiting. The waitress got our drink order, but never brought them out. Another 10 minutes, a waiter came out and asked us again what we were drinking and gave us our drinks. Before that, I had seen him rubbing the wear off his brow. There seemed to be a total of 4-5 servers. 2 tables came after us and their orders were taken before ours. Another table that belonged to the waiter complained that they had been waiting for a long time to be greeted as well. They were there before us. Another server took over for him. Tacos were decent, but lacked tomatoes and cheese. My son had the short stack and the waiter didn’t bring the syrup until he was almost done. The cashier, who seems to be the owner or mgr, asked how everything was and shared that service was slow. Unfortunately, he never went around to check on the tables and teamwork doesn’t seem to be a priority in this place. Please do better bc you were one of favorite places in the NE. We don’t have...
Read moreUse to live in El Paso, visiting from Albuquerque now, I decided to try out a local Mexican restaurant since El Paso has the best Mexican restaurants in terms of authenticity. Unfortunately this place was awful. I mean I though ABQ had fake poor tasting restaurants but this one was way worse . The soup my wife ordered tasted like it had a cup of salt, my torta was bland with no seasoning, the meat tasted cheap and fatty, my sons burger was super greasy and it’s the first burger he’s ever not eaten. I didn’t believe him it was bad so I tried it and I couldn’t eat it either. I’m not picky, I’ll eat anything specially burgers and pizza but this thing was super greasy and extreamely salty. The Fries for my torta and sons burger were over cooked. They were almost black. The service was great and the prices were incredible so that’s why I added a star. It was completely empty on a Saturday night. I think I know why. My wife says the only seasoning they know about is salt. Sorry for the...
